The fellas did a really nice job with local food and coffee. The room was cozy and clean. I would stay here again and recommend others to as well. This stay allows one to see Portland from a locals perspective. A great farmers market at the park at the end of the street.Bike rentals for guests would help commute to... More

I will admit that I am not the type of person who would typically seek out a B&B for my travel accommodations - The concept is unfamiliar to me and has always seemed a bit odd. However, I can say that the Mercury Inn defeated that preconception. This was, hands-down, the most enjoyable away-from-home stay I have ever experienced. From... More

We traveled during a very busy time (leaf peeper season) so we did not have much of a choice on B&B's. I was looking forward to our stay here and was pleased at the lower cost compared to the other B&B's in this classification and looked forward a modern upscale stay but was immediately disappointed upon arrival, the exterior was... As always, we really appreciate your feedback. Some of the problems you mentioned are things we can absolutely improve. For instance, we can get another surface in the bathroom. In fact, having read this, we’ll be doing so today. As for our congeniality, this is an area of innkeeping where there will always be room for improvement. I really enjoyed... More

We booked the Mercury for 3 nights after reading the glowing reviews here and because it looked so stylish. We were really looking forward to our stay but, unfortunately, I have to admit we were a little disappointed. Here's why... On their own website it states "Home-made snacks & beverages always available in the parlor". Unlike the other inns we... More

Thank you so much for your feedback. We’re very sorry that your stay was disappointing and hope that you’ll be happy to know that we’ve already begun implementing some changes that address some of the problems you mentioned. We have added a single-serving coffee maker with reusable pods, to ensure there is always coffee at hand for guests, but that... More

My partner and I live in New York City, and have stayed at Mercury Inn twice. The first time was in February of 2014 for Valentine’s Day. The owners/innkeepers, Tim and Jake, made us feel incredibly at home, were always helpful, and quick with suggestions for things to do and places to eat around town. The room we stayed in... More

A lovely, modern B&B in Portland, Maine. Our room and en-suite bathroom were both a decent size and spotlessly clean. Plus there was a communal sitting room area if you wanted more space. Free wifi throughout. Plus truly delicious breakfasts in the morning. The owners are both friendly and accommodating hosts. The Mercury is a little way out of the... More

I recently stayed at the Mercury Inn with friends for a girl's weekend. Tim and Jake were great hosts, the food was fantastic (the Cabot Greek Yogurt served in jelly jars was so adorable), and our rooms were comfortable and stylish. I especially loved the room (which my friend had) with the window seat. I also really really need to... More

The innkeepers, Tim and Jake, provided a fantastic breakfast spread: egg dishes used locally sourced ingredients, strawberry muffins, and yogurt parfaits with local maple syrup. The bed was comfortable and the linens were spotless. Ironing boards by request.

This was definitely a "find" for our 3-day weekend trip to Portland. The price is much less than what you will pay for other accommodations in that area, so it is certainly a value. Some of the unique little bits are: the green practices, the cute an authentic World War 2 Commissary table at breakfast, the old meets new decor,... More
