This is a beautiful hotel, but I would never recommend it. First off, they charged my credit card for the two reserved nights immediately after I made the reservation. When I got there, I found out that the advertised "harbor view" of my room overlooked a parking structure. This is an expensive place to stay and then I discovered they... More

Clean, attractive hotel right in the middle of Portland. This hotel is located right across the street in the Art District. No pool. Ask for free bottles of cold water at the front desk. The bar on the 15th floor is surprisingly happening and has a great view of the city. Free shuttle service.

First of all, this hotel used to be the Eastland (the sign is still up because it is "historic"). But why in God's name is it now called "Harborview"?? Very misleading as the property is nowhere near the harbor as the name implies. Stiff five block walk to the harbor. If you were expecting to be at the harbor, like... More

I stayed at this hotel the beginning of September for a wedding. I travel to Portland often but will never stay at this hotel again. The valet lost my keys for hours on two occasions and I missed some of the wedding festivities as a result. When my car finally arrived there was a crack in the windshield. The valet... More

As someone who has stayed at several decent Starwood properties, including Westins, I am sorry to say that I was not blown away with this property. It really just OK. The first big turn off was was check in. While most hotels would generally have at least one or two people working the desk during the peak check in times,... More

Terrible experience @ Westin Portland ME. I had room thru my AMEX, reserved a jr king suite. But front desk kept insisting I did not have that room and put me into a standard room. They said I needed to take it up with AMEX and I could upgrade for $105/night. Meanwhile, I already was on the phone with AMEX... More

The Starwood Hotel Group/Westin did an incredible job of transforming the old Eastland Hotel in Portland. They have taken an old grand hotel that was worse for wear and updated it with contemporary flair. The outside still retains the classic architecture, but the inside is all modern. If you have stayed in a newer Westin recently, you will recognize the... More

Had taken me a while to write this review, but I could not say better things about the staff at this hotel especially Mr. Frank McGuire. He was truly outstanding during our short stay in Portland. He suggested things for us to see, great places to eat, and even went out of his way to pick us up and drop... More

I think the "harborview" name is a bit misleading. The hotel is not particularly close to the harbor and the view is nothing to write home about. Our stay was short, but it seemed to us that the neighborhood around the hotel got a bit sketchy at night. We walked out to dinner and back and I was glad that... More

Attention pet-lovers: Some hotels say pet-friendly and make your stay difficult. Not here, where dog-friendly means as good or better a room to stay in (we had a corner with floor to ceiling windows and a panoramic view that kept the pooch entertained. Besides the treats, bowls and a pet feather-bed, flexible policies allow you to keep your dog in... More
