We should have read the reviews before we booked and stayed at the Percy Inn. We have stayed at quite a few B&Bs and this one has been the worst experience so far. We did not meet the Innkeeper at all. The only person we met was a young girl that said she was the chief cook and bottle washer.... More

While not huge fans of B&Bs in general, my husband and I enjoyed our multi-night stay at the Percy Inn. It is a classy, unique, charming place to hang out, located just far enough from the "scene" of the Old Port area to give peace of mind. The staff presence is lacking, though there was nothing in particular we needed... More

Stayed two nights in Portland. No one greeted us at the door. Found only a note. Room was dusty. Sheets stained. Found a paper napkin stuck to the ceiling alongside some scary looking cracks. Breakfest room was OK. A continental breakfest awaited us in the morning. Bagels, fruit, coffee were good. Frige that stored items looked old and dingy. Coffee... More

We recently stayed at The Percy Inn for a single night. We have stayed at many B+B's and have never had such an impersonal experience. We were not greeted by anyone but simply found a note from the owner. Our room was unlocked with the key inside. We did not see anyone until the following morning at breakfast. Our room was... More

It's a hotel claiming to be a B&B, and it has only one thing going for it: location. That's about all I was impressed with. I go out of my way to stay at B&B's for the intimate feel, common areas to hang out, personalized touches, and customer service - all of which I feel were lacking at the Percy... More

Having just stayed at the Percy Inn, and then reread the love-it-or-hate-it reviews here, we have to say: they're all spot on. The hotel's big negative is that Dale, the innkeeper, was rarely around. In our opinion, that's a weakness for a B&B, and an especial weakness for one that sells the personality of its innkeeper (it bills itself as... More

I've just been alerted to some of the bad reviews on this site and after reading them I am wondering if these people stayed at the same Percy Inn as I and my family. After months of travelling we arrived in a cold snow covered Portland and the warmth of the Percy Inn. We booked, via the internet, three nights... More

We got advice from tourist office and booked same day. Special price and free parking was good. We had a room on third floor, a bit small but we chose lowest rate and it was attractive with big bath. We arrived about noon but got it early. Girl in kitchen gave us maps and older woman helped with museums up... More

Lovely holiday stay. Was a little apprehensive at first but attracted by rates and everything went very nicely in our room and with our two nights there. Breakfast was a combination of fruits, bakery, and eggs and such. Cereals, breads and some kind of delicious pie. We like tables for two instead of family seating like some B&Bs. We also... More

Wish we had listened to other guests. We were very disappointed. The room was just ok. It was nice to have a fridge, but with a stove that "didn't work" was not necessary. There was supposedly instant hot water for coffee, tea, but you could get hotter water out of the tap. The continental breakfast was the biggest disappointment. He... More
