This is a recycled 100+ year old armory, opened as a hotel in 1987. Charming, slightly funky, slightly odd. Par for the course in this kind of project. Very nice staff, had an excellent breakfast in the restaurant: John, great waiter. The hotel is clean and well-maintained, but getting a little long in the tooth for a first class hotel:... More

I'm a Portland native but had a chance to stay here on my wedding night. I also had a room block here for guests. The staff was very responsive during planning. Upon my visit, the same level of service was received on-site. Everyone was SO friendly and accommodating. The rooms are a good size and comfortable. The location is perfection, in... More

An impromptu night in Portland on our way home landed us at this hotel . The room was beautiful, the king bed pretty well perfect . The service from all ends was great . The location to great restaurants and shopping couldn't be better . Thank You for a great stay !!!!!

Just spent the weekend at this historic hotel in the middle of Old Port. Location is ideal for visiting. Easy walking distance to the waterfront, many great bars/restaurants and shopping. Room was big and clean. The bed was a little softer than I prefer but fine for a weekend. People who prefer a firm mattress might not do as well.... More

The hotel is very nice. It is convenient location and has a New England charm. I'm a big fan of rooms with balconies and we had a nice one. Overall, I really liked the room and the hotel but I do think it is overpriced.

Great place to stay. The little things make it memorable. Coffee for two with pastry outside your door in the morning, the turn down with chocolate at night. Real cups and glasses, no paper here! These are the best. Top that off with great valet parking and welcoming feel makes this a must stay in the Old Port in Portland.

Having read some mixed reviews we were a little concerned about rooms etc. No worries required. Rooms adequate staff friendly and location ideal for the harbour and restaurants. As is the way wi-fi slow. No fridge or coffee making facilities. Turn down service available and water in the room.

A stop in Portland on the way north allowed us a night at the Regency. Right in the thick of the Old City, it is steps away from shops, bars, restaurants and the waterfront. A room on the street level is very quiet, a testament to the sturdy well-built armory this used to be. Rooms are well appointed and spacious.... More

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2015

we recently stayed July 10th for 3 nights in the pet friendly rooms on the lower spa level. I was a little concerned that I might be put in a dark basement but upon reaching the room those worries immediately went a way. You can tell this room was recently renovated and it has plenty of light. I asked for... More

The service is excellent. The open air restaurant across the street is easy relaxing and the food is good. The breakfast is fresh and the wait staff is superb. I have been to this hotel several times and it has always been delightful.
