We just left from our stay at The Danforth and it was an all around great experience. You can tell that the Inn has been recently updated and tastefully decorated. Yummy breakfast, clean rooms, great location. Check it out and you won't be disappointed. more

Loved this place! B & B's can ("B"!) a bit hit and miss, but this was everything I usually hope for and more. We originally booked one night, but ended up staying two. It isn't chintz and gingham, if that's your thing - the recent renovation makes this historic place truly elegant, but also truly warm and welcoming. It's a... more

We recently went to Portland, Maine and stayed at the Danforth for an overnight stay. We got the suite on the second floor that is $255/night + tax and the next room which is $185/night. Since my parents are visiting from another country and we would want to give them the best accomodation, i chose for them the suite even... more

We stayed for two nights at the beautiful, elegant Danforth. This beautiful old house has been completely refurbished with every attention to detail beautifully done...from the painting, furniture, art, linens and service. It was very comfortable with excellent service by all staff. We stayed in the "economy" room on the third floor...which had a king bed (they put the twins... more

We traveled to Portland for a wedding in August 2009 and stayed at this newly renovated bed and breakfast. [Opened under the present management in May 2009] The place is stunningly decorated, from the heavy cream colored moulding and the Maine art gallery on the taupe colored walls, to the bubble crystal doorknobs on every door, to the sumptuous breakfasts... more

The inn is located in a beautifully restored house, quietly located and a nice 10 minutes walk to the restaurants. Our room (no. 10) was adequate in size without being really large, but with a huge and nice bathroom. Clean and fresh like the rest of the house. The bed was comfortable. Only negative about the room was a very... more

My husband and I just returned from a long weekend in Portland and enjoyed our stay at the Danforth. We have stayed at many Inns over the years and this one receives high marks from us for decor and location, but not so much for hospitality and warmth. I should preface this by saying that we are middle aged southerners... more

We just returned from 2 successive weekends spent in Portland, staying the first weekend at The Danforth and the second at Morrill Mansion (reviewed separately). I really wanted to like The Danforth, and fully expected to based on the reviews on this Board and its website. Unfortunately we were disappointed: The Positives: We stayed in Room 2. The mattress was... more

A recent stay at the Danforth was one of the highlights of our visit to Portland. Two things there stand out -- the beautiful renovation that the new owners and staff have completed and the amazing staff. As a trip to its website will show, the Danforth is a beautiful place -- furnishings, linens, and decorative items have been painstakingly... more
