The Danforth provides a very urbane setting for a visit to Portland. The stately building sits nicely on a corner in a pleasant, residential neighborhood. It is well tended on the outside & beautifully furnished within. The common areas of the Danforth were well placed & inviting. Our room, "Casco Bay", offered wonderful light with views of the bay. It... More

Beautiful historical house with period antiques. I would of appreciated the history being provided in the room or by the staff. When I inquired with the breakfast server the response was "the house has a deep history". Yep, what is that history? The decor was inconsistent and not thought out in the Manor Room and I was extremely disappointed in... More

This was the find of the year for us. Close (walking distance) to everything. Inside so tastefully decorated. The room cozy. The little extra touches like turndown service and slippers were so wonderful. The breakfast was served in such a way you truly felt special. The food was amazing and presentation gorgeous. I would recommend The Danforth to anyone, and... More

We arrived for 3 nights as part of our 5 week trip travelling New England. Unfortunately we were not happy with our room as there was no storage what so ever, but Brett understood our annoyance as we wanted to unpack as living out of a suitcase for 3 days was not on! He quickly gave us another room as... More

We are just finishing a two night stay at The Danforth and found the accommodations and the service to be absolutely outstanding. Not only is the Inn gorgeous with striking art, crisp linens and all the little details attended to but the staff is extremely gracious. When I called for reservations, Brett, the inn keeper suggested he make dinner reservations... More

We stayed for two nights in a lovely room. The house is amazing, a great blend of an old building with modern and tasteful art. Breakfast was lovely on both days with interesting options. It was the service that impressed most, from personalised menus at breakfast to a note from housekeeping and the glorious chocolates at turn down. Highly recommended.

We were so close to giving the Danforth a 5 rating, but there were a couple of niggles that held us back. Location was fine. Not really walkable in to the town, but an easy cab ride. Bret was a great host, and the breakfast was delicious. The hotel is well-maintained, and has some beautiful common areas, with an eclectic... More

We loved our 2 days at The Danforth, our room was beautiful and comfy, the breakfasts were delicious and our host was so gracious that he carried our luggage up the stairs for us. We had a great time staying there and felt like we were at home. Highly recommend it!!

We stayed here for three nights and had a fabulous experience. We definitely recommend and would stay here again if we visit Portland in the future! Brett was friendly and knowledgeable and recommended some great places for us to see. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and they even had printed menus with our names, a nice touch! They had... Our trip to Cabo got cancelled, so we decided at the last minute to travel East to explore Portland, Maine. The Danforth had one room left, and we booked it. Brent met us outside and helped us with our luggage. Brent greeted us by name and took the time to show us the property. Our room was perfect, with a... More
