5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013 NEW

From the moment we walked into The Danforth til we walked out 2 days later we were impressed with the Inn and the Inn Keepers, Holly and Justin. We were made to feel welcome and comfortable. Our room was a lovely mix of old and new charm as was the entire Inn. Holly and justin were accomodating, friendly as well... More

We had a wonderful stay at the Danforth. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The rooms have been recently renovated. Our bathroom was new and spotless. It is fairly easy walking distance to some good restaurants in Longfellow Square, although we did drive to Old Port for dinners twice (short, easy drive). We had gourmet breakfasts each morning and... More

What a nice review! Thank you so much for your detailed thoughts and comments. Justin and Holly are a lovely couple, aren't they? Our public spaces are part of what set us apart from other Portland inns and we're glad you made use of them. Next time, don't forget to check out the Prohibition-area billiards room and the cupola with... More

I just came back from a stay at the Danforth. I recommend it to anyone. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. And the breakfast was excellent. I wish I had some criticism to offer. It could have been a little closer to Portland's attractions. But the short walk or drive is a fair trade off... More

Been here before when it was under different ownership. It's still pleasing. The rooms have all be redone, the living room is very comfortable and airy. A wonderful breakfast. They have a lovely little balcony patio off a small sitting room on the 2nd floor. Suggested improvement - they need to have coffee/tea available in the mornings before 7:30.

We are so glad you returned to The Danforth and still found it pleasing. We are doing our best to improve our guests' stay even more with new amenities and services. In fact, a Keurig coffee maker is located in the 2nd floor sitting room you found so enjoyable. So sorry if no one pointed that out to you! So,... More

My wife and I went here for our anniversary. We could not have been more impressed. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, cozy, and comfortable. It's very close to Old Port, so getting into town is not that difficult. What really impressed us were the open rooms on each for floor where guests could visit.... More

I booked a room for my husband & I at this lovely B&B in Portland ME for a Valentine's Day get away this year (my daughters told me this was very similar to what Meryl Streep did in "Hope Springs"!). I was hoping to dine at the Danforth Restaurant as well but it was closed for repairs. We had a... More

Thank you for your kind comments. We are so glad you enjoyed your visit. All of our rooms are indeed designed differently, we try to give very accurate portrayals on our website so that our guests can choose a room consistent with their taste. The furniture you refer to in Longfellow Square is by Palecek. We look forward to seeing... More

We have spent 5 nights in Danforth ( Deering Oaks and Art's District Rooms - both on 3rd floor) and it was incredible experience. Let's start from the most important - the Stuff of Danforth - Liz, Jen and Aly - you ladies know who you are - so nice, so friendly, so so professional, so helpful, always with the... More

Friends from around the country came to stay at The Danforth to celebrate my birthday weekend. The two days were perfection from start to finish. The rooms are elegant and beautifully appointed. And the mattresses must have pixie dust sprinkled on them; everyone reported the best nights' sleep ever. The staff was attentive, the food divine and afternoon tea/coffee and... More

We enjoyed the staff and rooms at the Danforth. Chose not to eat at the restaurant, but it is one of the hot new eateries in town. The Danforth is very elegant, with sitting rooms and a deck. Breakfast very delicious. Our one gripe was that the happy hour was not consistent, and we would have liked some wine and... More
