We held our fathers celebration of life here at The Black Bear. Christina and the staff were friendly and profession. They set up a beautiful luncheon for 65 people and everyone was very impressed with the service and blown away by the food. What we thought was going to be simple soup, salad, and sandwich lunch was elegantly presented and... More

Very convenient to Interstate 95 and great area to get a decent meal as it is a college town. Continental breakfast is better than most. Staff very friendly. Stayed here several times. Rooms are spacious.

We stayed here this past weekend and were mortified at the condition of our room. This is usually our hotel of choice when traveling to and from northern Maine and unfortunately we won't be back. When we first walked in I noticed their fresh cookie display was really filthy and the inside cover was completely covered in oily crumby mess,... More

My husband and I arrived in the evening after a long day's drive. We were exhausted and hungry. The restaurant were just about to close, but they served us anyway (and graciously). The hotel is right off I-95, but the windows are soundproofed enough that the noise is minimal (I live in NYC, so my tolerance for noise might be... More

My husband and I both agree that you have the BEST hotel coffee we have had yet! Room was very clean... beds were a bit on the small side. Nice to have a pet friendly hotel... only $10 for the dog! Shower water pressure was wonderful... nice treat while away from home.

We stayed at the Black Bear Inn again -- our third stay -- after a trip to St. John, NB. My parents were flying out of Bangor International Airport, and we stayed overnight. As always, the hotel is clean and comfortable. We had just stayed at the Hilton in St. John, and my mom commented that our rooms at the... More

My stay was brief as I was traveling on business but the experience was great. The greeting at arrival was warm and friendly. I missed their dinner time but asked where I could get a container of milk and they immediately made that happen without even charging me. The room was comfortable with a fridge, Keurig, microwave, large screen TV,... More

We stayed at this hotel last October for five nights. It was our second destination in the US, after having just spent a very hectic five days in Manhattan New York. The hotel staff were very warm and friendly, giving us advice on local places of interest. We were in Orono visiting our daughter who was undertaking a semester student... More

We spent three days here during the Canada Day (July 1) weekend: two adults, two kids and a dog. The staff was lovely in every case. I was very impressed with the welcome our pup got, and the nicest set of pet-owner rules I've seen--standard rules for her but phrased in a friendly, fun way. Also the pet-friendly room was... More

This is such a sweet place. For the same price as a cookie-cutter chain hotel, you get a homey inn, with a relaxing, Maine/NE motif. The front desk staff were helpful, polite & courteous. We did not eat in the Black Bear Cafe, as we ate out for dinner (great restaurants so close!) We stayed here while visiting UMaine, and... More
