We were excited to visit this property that friends had told us about. It is lovely, but seemed dated. For example, our room was on the third floor, and there is no public elevator. We took the stairs. Luckily, a staff person brought our luggage up on the staff elevator. My husband thought our room was likely the servant's quarters... More

I was excited about staying in this historic hotel. I was travelling with my adult son, so chose a suite so we could have separate rooms. Upon check in we were told our room was on the 4th floor (no elevator) and that there was no AC. I am a middle aged woman and have my own "private summers" year... More

We stayed here three nights. The wallpaper is dated, peeling in some places, and the rooms are not sound proof. They also could dress up the rooms with some additional furniture, example... lamps, side tables, etc. We were told while checking in that the front desk would assist us with booking bikes or anything else in the area. The next... More

My family and I stayed in one of the Topsider Cottages this past weekend. While the view was spectacular, it wasn't enough for me to overlook the shortcomings. The décor was terribly dated and the floor was in serious need of a vacuuming. The kitchenette was usable but with a toddler in tow, I wish the knobs we're above his... More

This inn actually has at least one additional place for guests that is not the grand four-story affair in their pictures. We were given a suite in what was formerly an old Victorian house across the street. The suite was actually three rooms on half of the ground floor of the house. It was very roomy and comfortable, but was... More

This hotel is in the most fabulous location and is very charming, but is very tired and needs some serious updating. Being able to hear every sound and conversation from next door rooms is not so charming. Neither is the peeling wallpaper and floor covering in the bathroom. We were lucky that it was cool when we stayed, it must... More

At over 130 years old, the Asticou needs a little spruce up at the edges. Most rooms are quite small and the baths dated. The furnishings in need of new upholstery and the mattresses very uncomfortable. Sorry, but don't think we'll be visiting here again soon. Not worth the money! .

This was our first stop at the Asticou Inn . We read about then in the Bar Harbor paper . It said they had tea and pop overs on the deck. They did not say that it was one of the most beautiful views in the area. The pop overs were as good as the ones at Jordan's pond .... More

After specifically requesting a quiet room at check-in,we were placed in one of the standalone buildings. We later found it quite noisy being on the road making sleep at night challenging. It was unseasonably warm and humid so we tried to open the windows in the room. Unfortunately one window behind the bed had no screen in it. We called... More

This is a historic Inn about a mile from Northeast Harbor perched up on a hill above the harbor. The classic style, food, and the quality of the service are strong positives for the Asticou Inn. (Apparently the prior owners were bought out in 2014 and service improved). The breakfast buffet was fabulous featuring fruit and yogurt, a selection of... More
