We stayed here for three nights at the end of September, wanting a base to tour this part of Maine. We had a lodge apartment away from the main hotel and decided that was a plus so you can ask for the same when booking. The room was a suite with a lounge and TV, a large separate bathroom and... We stayed a few nights in late September 2014. It is an historic inn, so no TV's in the room (lovely), but lots of space, a very relaxing experience. I would call the decor "shabby chic"! Staff work hard to please and the view is priceless!

A little context. My wife and I used to visit here in the 70's, 80's, and early 90's. I wanted to make one last visit to NE Harbor and the Asticou, and timed it coinciding with our 54th anniversary. I made reservations in March for the main inn, water view, Sept. 30th and Oct. 1st. I had an email and... More

This is what I imagine an American country hotel to be, cosy, comfortable but not too sophisticated. everything is comfortable, the breakfast generous though 2 minutes less cooking for the bacon would be good, the team who work here are friendly and welcoming and the view from our bedroom at least was gorgeous. No doubt it lacks that final urban... More

We love hiking in Acadia Nat. Park in the fall and have done so for many years but have never stayed here before. We are staying in Blue Spruce, one of the out buildings. The room is clean, comfy and has a lovely view. Very old fashioned bathroom but I'll take a big ole claw foot tub for an after-hike... More

My husband and I stayed here twice. Both experiences were exceptional but our last visit was even more memorable. They have a new chef and the food was, really delicious. Lobster was prepared perfectly, my husband had lamb and this, too, was amazing. I still think about the breakfast I had...ricotta pancakes with a blueberry compote. Delicious! The rooms are small... Stayed here one night in beautiful autumn weather. The hotel was very clean , staff were helpful without being patronising . The room was front and view was really pretty looking out on the bay.breakfast in the morning was a bit disappointing and therefore seemed a bit overpriced . Pity they do t have tea / coffee facilities in the... More

Great customer service throughtout. Good location away from all.... very charming all around. Beautiful grounds and surroundings. Fantastic restaurant with vast menu, good wines and great staff. The rooms also had the charm from the past and they were adequate/average. Management provided a space heater by the time we came back from dinner as ours was not operable. What I... More

My wife and I happened on this enormous old inn while driving around Mt. Desert Island trying to escape the tourist horrors of Bar Harbour. We took a suite with bedroom, sitting room, small terrace, and bath. All were small rooms while the bath was too small to 'swing a cat'. Granted that his is a hundred year-old place, the... More
