Everyone we talked to had raved about Asticou as one of the best places to stay in the Acadia region. And while the location is exemplary, the hotel itself desperately needs some updating. If you want "rustic charm", then this is the place for you: plenty of history, interesting building style, etc. But rustic charm also translates into: rooms with... more

Being from Maine, I'd heard great things about the Asticou Inn all my life. We finally decided to stay there. We had great expectations and really wanted to love it. We hated to admit to each other, "This really isn't that great -- especially for the price." We knew it was an old hotel, and that's fine. While our room... more

I was very disappointed with this hotel. Flies on the windowsills in our room. Of course the 4th floor (attic-feel) was not air-conditioned so the room was hot, hot, hot. The overall feel is of a hotel that was once lovely but in need of an upgrade. Time to call the decorator! more

My family stayed in the Topsider cottages. I cannot believe I paid over $300 for such a shabby room with such poor service. Light bulbs didn't work and were not replaced after requesting help. You could hear everything from the room next door. Housecleaning was subpar and they left garbage in the room one day. This created a horrible stench... more

A beautiful old inn at the head of Northeast Harbor, with a fantastic view, but it could use an update. Our room, in the Bird Bank house, was cramped and dowdy. It looked like something my grandmother might have liked (and I'm over 50). The floor was quite slanted, with the head of the bed several inches lower than the... more

We stayed at the Asticou for two nights - it was quiet, peaceful, clean and pleasant. The view from our room, overlooking the harbor, was unbelievable. The inn is older - no TV, no WIFI, no fancy specialty beds, etc. but for old school charm and calm, it can't be beat. more

Our group of friends, consisting of 4 couples, stayed at the Inn for 3 nights in July. All of us enjoyed our stay there and thought the accommodations were nice. The breakfast buffet was good - especially the blueberry muffins. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We only had dinner there one night and it was good but not wonderful. TVs... more

We did not stay at the Asticou Inn. Instead, we booked the Inn as the venue for our daughter's wedding and had about 100 guests for the ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner. In the month's prior to the event, we worked with event manager Tom Weverstad. He was exceptional...thorough, courteous, friendly, warm, etc., etc. The event went extremely well and... more

The Asticou Inn is known for its history and spectacular view. The Inn has greatly upgraded the accomodations, especially in the Main building, from my previous visit. The staff remain ready to help with anything, and they try to fill any request - like mine for a soup and spring rolls snack in my room one afternoon when I was... more

Our daughter was married at the Asticou Inn in June 2009. Being from South Dakota and our daughter from New York City, we had to rely on the staff a great deal. From Tom, the event planner for the Inn, to the front desk staff and to all the folks in the restaurant, we felt as though we were treated... more
