Delightful traditional New England Inn, big spacious accommodation and in a gorgeous waterside setting. Staff are really friendly and welcoming and breakfast specially cooked and very tasty. Not your standard hotel breakfast. We were very comfortable.

Pros: Lovely B&B with a warm welcome, fine breakfast and excellent quiet location. Lovely grounds with view of river; Wifi excellent Cons: On day after Columbus Day weekend, hard to find an equally classy place to eat. But this seems to be a problem all over Maine. Maine is not Vermont for foodies!

The Newcastle Inn is immaculate and quiet -- but not formal. The owner is friendly but not overly so (you'd be surprised at how quickly we've at times had to eat breakfast due to hovering innkeepers!) and very knowledgeable about the Bristol area. On a quiet road with tall trees, the Inn is a short, pleasant walk to town and... More

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Newcastle Inn last weekend to celebrate his birthday. We stayed in the Monhegan Island room, which was extremely comfortable and recommended by Julie, the owner. Our room had recently been redecorated, and was lovely. As was our private bathroom, which had plenty of room to spread out. There were... More

Dear FoodieNashua, Thank you for taking time to share your thoughts regarding your recent stay at Newcastle Inn. I am happy to hear that you enjoyed the Monhegan Island room. This has always been a very popular room, but with the recent remodel/redecorating, it is even more in demand. I agree 100% that the Maine Botanical Gardens should be on... More

The Newcastle Inn is a gem in an area where you usually have to stay in a roadside motel. Julie, the proprietor has done a magnificent job redecorating and upgrading this Bed and Breakfast Inn. The Inn is top notch in accommodations and the breakfast is a delight. One feels very relaxed here and is a good place to unwind... More

This is a great location if you are exploring the Wiscasset, Damariscotta, Boothbay Harbor (Mid Coast) Region of Maine. When we arrived Julie met us at the door and gave us a tour of the property. Our room happened to have an outdoor deck which was overlooking the river and very peaceful. The bed gets a resounding 10! and the... More

Comfortable,charming,cozy.clean. Terrific location for mid coast. Julie and her friendly staff run a first rate Inn. All the old world charm has been kept intact while modern updates to the baths and very good beds give you all the comforts of home. Breakfasts are delicious and hearty. Wish we could have stayed longer. Hope to visit again.

Dear cosmotrav17, Thank you for your kind words regarding your recent stay at Newcastle Inn. I am happy to hear that you enjoyed your time in the area and at the inn. The Newcastle Inn is in a quiet but central location in Mid-Coast Maine. We visited on Labor Day weekend and enjoyed the peaceful setting with easy access to the bustling towns. We loved our 3 day stay. Julie and her staff are the best. The property and service were excellent - including the breakfast; size and outfitting of the room; the layout of the property - extra nooks and crannies for guests to read and hang out; the deck; the beautiful yard, flowers and trees. We thought it was perfect.
