Having staff that live on campsites is a great idea. Quiet hours and rules seem to be enforced, which makes for a more pleasant camping experience for all. Bathrooms were the cleanest I've ever seen camping. No signal for Verizon here or on most of Desert Island. They have wifi at a building on site. This is useful because I... More

We splurged on a water site, C3. It was gorgeous. I really like the tent platforms, kept the tent nice and dry. Plentiful trees (pretty, privacy, practical for guy-lines and hammocks). Water available very nearby, CLEAN bathrooms just a short walk. I LIKED that we had to park across the "drive," less car-door-slamming-sounds. There is no camp store, and before... More

Thank you very much for your thoughtful review. We will take a second look at the fireplace location on C3. We often camp in the campground ourselves at various times during the season. We love to camp and the time we spend on a site often serves to reveal deficiencies that we may have otherwise overlooked. With respect to your... More

We camped here over Memorial Day weekend with an outdoor oriented group from greater Portland and were very impressed with this lovely place right on Somes Sound. There are lots of sites right on the water, and many of the other sites are private. We liked the platforms that many of the sites had for tents. The campground location is... More

We loved staying here in our teardrop trailer for a week! It was so scenic and also very quiet at night. The employees are so friendly and nice to talk to. They were always around if you needed something. I forgot stakes for my tent that attaches to our trailer and they told me where I could find some as... More

I camped here with friends over this past memorial day, and I would definitely stay here again. it is located very close to acadia national park and only about 15 min from Bar Harbor-- so its super convenient. it is a family-style car campground with platforms for tents, RV hookups, and fire rings. The staff was very helpful checking in,... More

We stayed at MDC for the first time ever this past week for three nights at site c12. The view of the water from the site was great and if was a little bit warmer we would have jumped in at high tide! The showers were very clean compared to other campgrounds I have stayed at and cost 4 quarters... More

Spent 1 night at the campground over Memorial Day Weekend 2015. We arrived in the early evening and got the last campsite. Very helpful and friendly office staff. Clean, well kept campground, perfect for camping out of your car, RV, trailer, whatever. Nice location on the Somes Sound. Wish there were more sites on the waterfront. Our site had a... More

Thanks so much for taking the time to write such a kind review. We're sorry that inconsiderate fellow campers diminished some of your enjoyment while you stayed with us. We welcome every holiday weekend with a degree of ambivalence. While it is wonderful to be so busy, we have to contend with a more festive atmosphere than is typical during... More

Our waterfront campsite was so beautiful and peaceful that we lingered there most mornings until lunch and returned earlier than usual in the afternoon. I fell asleep and awoke to the sound of the water lapping the shore and dock. A regular camper told us the owners and hosts take quiet hours seriously. At 10pm sharp campers all around us... More

I was only ever at the campground once so far, and I absolutely loved it! My fiance had been going with his family on vacation every year since he was a kid, so he said he had to take me there. The campground is very clean, very well-kept, and quiet. I've been to campgrounds before where people were very loud,... More

My husband and I stayed at Mount Desert Campground for 3 days. We were able to choose our campsite, before reserving it. I really like that option. We picked a waterfront view. A beautiful view! I have never set my tent up on a wooden platform before, so I wasn't sure how I would feel about it. I love it!... More
