I hadn't been to the Monhegan House since 2005, and the upgrades were noticeable. The bathrooms especially were great quality and immaculate. The employees go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable and despite the lack of locks on the door, we had no problems with safety or theft. We were right over the... I spent a night at the Monhegan House, a sublime experience. I had a cozy top floor room which had a meadow view and could see the island lighthouse from my window. Breakfast in included in your stay, this is a low-tech (no TVs) hotel with a sitting room stocked with books and board game; complimentary coffee and tea available.... More

I was concerned about sharing facilities but there were 2 toilets with sinks on our floor and additional facilities one flight down so there was never a time where one had to wait. The rooms are furnished very roughly, floors could use some buff & shine, I thought it was expensive for what you get. The no locks seemed strange... More

This is our best stay in our travel along the Maine coast. Good old atmosphere, clean room and comfortable rest and shower room, which even shared. Good breakfast. I liked the rocking chairs in front of the house. Tips; Try to get the small mail boat from Port Clyde, named Laura B. You can experience ordinary life of the island... More

I was delighted to be able to stay here in early September 2013. I went by myself (artists bucket list) to paint and experience Monhegan Island. I had a small room on the top floor. Very clean and comfortable with a great view of the lighthouse (when we weren't socked in w/fog!). I was a little concerned about the bathrooms... More

It is difficult for me to review this property because it is unlike any other place I have ever stayed. It was like going back in time. I like the old fashioned feel of the hotel and loved the rocking chairs on the front porch. I found the rooms to be clean, the beds comfortable and the breakfast good. I... More

We stayed here for two nights in one of their one bedroom suites. These rooms have their own bathrooms, a sitting area and a lovely bedroom. The bed was very comfortable and the overall suite was very large. You have your own patio area to relax and look at the stars or the passing people. The bathroom was small and... More

We traveled with our three children and stayed at the Monhegan House. We had a wonderful experience. The Inn was like an Inn in many ways: living space to play games, read books, have tea, coffee or hot chocolate and there was a delicious breakfast that was included in the stay. It is less like an Inn because the owner... More

My son, friend and I stayed recently at the Monhegan House. This our first time on the island. First of all the island is a step back in town and probably that way Nantucket was 50 years ago before it was wrecked with tourism. We loved our stay at this place. It is "centrally" located in the heart of the... More

I was there in the early 90's with a group, excellent location and to be on a island with a working lighthouse is also a plus! It was neat to lay in bed and watch the flash of the lighthouse come across the wall.
