We were in Maine during the winter months when most hotels/motels are closed for the season. Glad they were open. We were pleasantly surprised with our stay. WONDERFUL bed, refrigerator, and rather large selection of in-room coffees, teas, and hot chocolate. Room did NOT smell musty or have stale cigarette odor like you get in most motels. Friendly and helpful... More

I stay at the Bluebird on a weekly basis and their new beds are fantastic. The rooms also have new furniture and I was comfortable drinking my morning coffee at the new table. I slept so well that I did not want to get up to the alarm. I always get great service and accommodate impromptu stays. The staff are... More

I only went here to buy a pie. The locals rave about the blueberry pie and they have reason to. Amazing blueberry Pie even picked one up for bring back to a friend who could not get over how good it was. Go here for the pie for sure.

Because of a business, I happened to find this motel online. It was close to where I would be temporarily working. No its not a resort, but it is a clean comfortable place to stay with basic amenities. The staff here are wonderful. The first time ( yes this is my second time here), the young lady in the reception... More

From the very kind staff to the amenities provided, everything was just what we needed. Okay, the mattress wasn't like my own, but it might be just like yours at home. The Bluebird is clean, pleasant and well appointed. The queen bedded rooms are behind the main building and so slightly quieter, but even the rooms at the front are... More

I first stayed at the Bluebird Motel about 40 years ago. It is still a great place to stay in Machias with comfortable, clean rooms; good beds, and great hosts. It has been updated and has many conveniences but it still a family-run "Mom and Pop" motel with good prices.

My wife and I had to spend one night here, because the other two hotels in Machias were booked the last night we were in town. When I was looking at hotels, this was the absolute last place I wanted to stay (compared to Machias Motor Inn and Schopee Farm), based on their webpage and internet pictures. However, when we... While the Bluebird Motel looks like it's a typical strip motel, it's clean, had fine queen beds, in room fridges, microwaves and WiFi that was a little slow at times but always worked. Staff was super helpful. More than met requirements on a family hiking vacation.

Let’s start with Machias. Whatever brings you out here – the annual Blueberry Festival, your vacation rental, the U. Maine campus, the scenic Route 1 coastal drive, puffins, kayaking, lobstah – you (along with the blueberry farms) REALLY are between a rocky ocean coast and the backwoods. And, generally speaking, there are no hotels in the backwoods, nor in Machias.... More

We stayed one night, August 4, 2014. If you are seeking the Hilton or Ritz in Machias you're looking in the wrong area. On the other hand, the Bluebird is a very convenient and comfortable place to stay. The place is a typical drive-up single story motel where you park your vehicle in front of your room. It is located... More
