What a great find late last night. The renovation of this facility is top notch. I would seriously doubt any lodging within 30 miles can match the bedding, bath and decor of this gem. I spent 30 plus years in the hotel industry and have never found a nicer, family run motel. Breakfast was great with fresh blueberries on my... More

This property was in all likelihood built in the 40's so management doesn't have a lot to work with. The room was small and dated but it didn't have bugs and was available so for one night I really can't complain. Surprisingly they did have wi-fi which we weren't expecting.

We would like to invite you to try the new Margaretta Inn. You were close, the property was built in the late 50's and we agree that it was dated. We are the new owners of the property and we are currently undergoing a complete renovation and remodel. Please try us again. More

If your soul does not flutter a little to see a push button phone and tube TV, then you may not appreciate the great value that Margaretta is. The place is basic, yes, but it is clean, convenient and the owners are really friendly. Not advertised was the free wifi - super-helpful when phone reception is pretty dodgy out in... More

This is now a "no-flutter zone". We are the new friendly owners of the newly named Margaretta Inn. The property is undergoing a complete renovation and remodel. There will be new flat screen tv's and still free wi-fi. Please try us again. ps. We kept the phones because they worked. More

Not much choice in Machais Maine so ended up here. Good enough for a night but hardly worth the $72 with tax price. If you want a trip down memory lane to 1960 or so in all respects but price, this could provide that experience. Clean, but so bare bones and rickety as to make you wonder if you wouldn't... More

Stayed here because the usual less than satisfactory motor inn was booked up on a september Wednesday. Very dated and heavily perfumed. Small tube tv and cramped moldy bathroom. Pay $55 a night and you get what you pay for. I would never stay here again. Better off driving an hour south on 1 to Ellsworth.

The Margaretta is a motel from the past. Think 1965. The decor is straight out of Andy Griffith. There are no frills, no internet, no microwave, but the place is clean and cheap. The owners are extremely nice and the place is a nice place to sit and relax and forget your problems. I loved the pool. It is centrally... More

We stayed here on a last minute trip to Maine for business. I booked it the day of our stay and got a great rate. The location was just where we wanted with easy access. The rooms were very clean, if a bit dated, and the bath tub was smaller than I have ever seen, but we slept well and... More
