I imagine that travelers stayed in small roadside cottages like these before motels ("motor hotels") became commonplace. They're all over the Maine coast and we stayed in this one to see what they're like. First, what was absent in our cottage: television (no kidding) and heat (although a space heater did a good job everywhere but in the bathroom.) WiFi... More

This is what my husband described the cottage we rented at Bay Leaf. The cottage is situated very close to the woods. Hence, sleeping at night with the windows open in the summer days with night breeze and sounds from the insects give you the feeling of being outdoor. The cottage is really clean and quaint. My husband and children... More

We were looking forward to a nice little cabin getaway for part of our trip through Maine and were willing to pay what for us was a lot of money for the privilege. But what the heck, we were getting a cabin with a screened in porch in a nice setting directly across from the ocean so, we thought why... More

We enjoyed the coziness of this place. Beds were very comfortable and breakfast had much better choices than the usual continental type. We especially like the good pet acommodations. Many places don't want you to leave the pet alone in the room but have a breakfast buffet. This is the only one I have ever seen that actually has a... More

Just returned from a weekend in Lincolnville/Camden and our stay at Bay Leaf was nice. I was very concerned that I was going to be cold but was pleasantly surprised when we arrived to cottage 3 and there was a space heater already in our room!! Yay! We were prepared for a cozy cottage but for anyone who has expectations... More

A good place to stay and explore the surrounding area, Acadia National Park, Jane very friendly and helpful. Room was a little chilly and heater too noisy to leave on at night. Breakfast good, plenty of choice.

Stayed in cabin 4 which seemed to be the only one without a small porch or deck. When we first opened the door I nearly stepped outside to let my wife in !! Very tight spacewise - if we had a cat I don't think we could have swung it without touching all the walls ! We had our dog... More

At the time you made your reservation the only dog-friendly cottage available was #4. There are other larger units but they were booked in advance. We have complete floor-plans and photos of each room/cottage available on our website given each unit is completely different. Towels are exchanged daily upon request. We are happy to do so. Cottage 4 is priced... More

I stayed in a cottage with my boyfriend a few days after Labor Day weekend. We found the cottage to be very small and were often tripping over eachother. The rooms aren't cleaned daily, the beds aren't made, and the cottage is "eco friendly" so you need to ask for new towels if you want them. It was not as... More

We asked that you leave promptly because we had all units on the property booked for the holiday weekend and your cottage required cleaning before the incoming guests could receive their key at a 3 p.m. check-in. With check-out at 11 a.m., it is customary for people to leave on time. We have various cottages (11 units) and no two... More

Waiting until the last minute to book a trip for Labor Day weekend was a risk, as was (so I thought) the idea of renting one of the cottages at Bay Leaf. This turned out to be an absolutely charming weekend getaway. The cottage was small, but by NYC standards actually rather large. The bathroom was problematic in terms of... More

Very clean rooms with basic amenities. Stayed in cabin 9 with bunk beds and separate room with queen bed - perfect set up for a small family. Only downside is we did run out of hot water in the morning after 2 showers. Nice continental breakfast and a children's play cabin is available for a rainy day.
