I stayed in a cottage with my boyfriend a few days after Labor Day weekend. We found the cottage to be very small and were often tripping over eachother. The rooms aren't cleaned daily, the beds aren't made, and the cottage is "eco friendly" so you need to ask for new towels if you want them. It was not as... More

Waiting until the last minute to book a trip for Labor Day weekend was a risk, as was (so I thought) the idea of renting one of the cottages at Bay Leaf. This turned out to be an absolutely charming weekend getaway. The cottage was small, but by NYC standards actually rather large. The bathroom was problematic in terms of... More

Very clean rooms with basic amenities. Stayed in cabin 9 with bunk beds and separate room with queen bed - perfect set up for a small family. Only downside is we did run out of hot water in the morning after 2 showers. Nice continental breakfast and a children's play cabin is available for a rainy day.

We stayed in a motel room on the second floor, so a bit of a lug with our luggage up the stairs, but a wonderful view through the trees to the water. Enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the rocker with a glass of wine. Room was very nicely decorated with nautical down east colours, very clean with old fashioned... More

Great little motel made our trip through mid coast Maine wonderful. A special thanks to Jane who gave us excellent ideas for things to see and sites to visit. A true gem. The Bay Leaf made me aware of the true Maine experience.

Really enjoyed our 7 day stay at bay leaf. The trees block some of the view of the water and the breakfast is continental (unlike an actual bed and breakfast) but the rooms were cozy, it's in a convenient location right off of hwy 1, and Jane (the manager/owner) was very helpful in helping us find the best restaurants and... I stayed in the motel room 18 ground level. Upon check in Jane(owner) was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. My room was cozy with single and double bed, microwave, mini fridge the décor was coastal theme and very comfortable. The motel has nice porch with chairs just outside your room for relaxing. WiFi in the room was very... More

We stayed in the motel part of the property and we knew when booking that our room was going to be a bit on the small side for us, but shoot, road trips are supposed to be a bit more rustic! We had planned to have 2 people sleep in the full, 1 on the twin and 1 on the... More

Great location and excellent amenities for the price. Only rated a 3 due to fact we had no hot water in the morning for a shower. Stayed in motel unit #21. Called the front desk and were informed due to the fact the motel was full and everyone must be showering at the same time, tanks unable to hanlde all... More

The Bay Leaf Cottages and Bistro are right off Rt 1. The owner was very nice and helpful. When we got to the cottage, it was much smaller than I expected. It was also extremely warm inside the little cottage. Thankfully there was an air conditioner. It was rated to sleep 4 people, but no one would be able to... More

Thank you for your valuable feedback. We always wonder whether or not to remove the sofa in that cottage and replace with a club chair - that may be better space utilization. We will, upon your suggestion, change the mattresses from those which came with the bunk beds to something more substantial. More
