We booked this property mainly because they offered a fitness facility. Their literature is very clear that the facility is open until 8:00 pm each evening through November. We rushed through our drive up the coast to get there by 6:30 for a workout, only to be advised that the facility would close at 7:00 pm. We were also advised... More

The Breakwater Inn and Spa is a perfect retreat from the real world of stress, worry and rushing around. Beautifully situated where the river and ocean meet, every area of the hotel seemed to offer yet another breathtaking view. Upon arrival we were shown to our room in the Spa building and around the property a bit. It was all... More

Our second stay at Breakwater and we were extremely pleased. We had a spacious 4th floor room with beautiful views of the harbor river. Rooms ( large and spacious)have a somewhat summer theme with blue paint and white trim. Staff very friendly and helpful. Resort and grounds very clean. New spa and exercise room truly amazing and rivals any 4... More

we stayed in the beginning of june and had a wonderful stay. the staff was very helpful. it was the beginning of the season so there was no one staying at the inn. Our room was small but adequate. Very clean. AC worked fine. we didn't stay in the room that much. we walked to town from the inn. It... More

Their website stated all the rooms had HDTV and flat screens, that was not the case. We had a room in the spa building (a very small room I might add), and as in a previous review, the a/c unit was to lound to have on at night. Staying in the spa building made us feel isolated from the rest... More

We finished off our 2-week New England road trip in Maine and chose this hotel for its location and crisp pretty look on their website. Far too often websites can be deceiving as their photos are far better than the place in reality; however I’m happy to say that the Breakwater Inn is every inch as pretty and wonderful as... More

True, a tranquil waterfront location a bit out of town, but that was just what my husband and I were looking for. Friendly service, excellent seafood in the Stripers Waterfront Restaurant and I absolutely loved the interior. A perfect mixture of old (the house apparently dates from the 1800's) and new, fresh whites and light blues. Very harmonious and soothing.... More

We stayed at the breakwater for three nights in August. I had a pleasant experience with everyone I dealt with, including the lovely inn keeper. The Inn is a nice spot--about a mile from town and has some great complimentary services, including a wonderful breakfast, bike rentals, beach passes etc. My real complaints are relatively minor and are more about... My family and I took a 3-week-trip to Maine, which was supposed to include 5 different hotels. The Breakwater Inn was our second stop and boy, are we glad that we came here at the beginning of the trip. We canceled two other hotels straight away to stay in Kennebunkport for a full week. The staff who come from all... More

We decided to stay at the Breakwater after driving through New England. It was a little confusing when we drove up as their main driveway says “No Parking” four times! But the very charming valet Abraham who we got to know better later on took care of us. The innkeeper herself, a very charming young woman from Austria, showed us... More
