I would call staying at Hidden Pond a step up from "Glamping". The individual cabins have 18 foot ceilings, fire place, a full wet bar with mini fridge and sink, a totally separate screened in porch, and an incredibly comfortable bed. For those who care they also have Wi-Fi, flat screen TV with DVD players and of course Scrabble. Oh,... More

Spacious, comfortable cabins tucked away in a forest. Very friendly staff. But given its price point, I think they can jazz up a few details. The Place: Set over several acres, each room is a cabin with its own screened in porch, plenty of space and views to the forest. Bed was super comfy, the layout of the room flowed,... More

Woodsy cottages with creeky doors and screened in porches - but - with Wi-Fi, luxurious bathrooms and fantastic food/wine list!!! Hidden Pond is literally the best of both worlds! We thoroughly enjoyed riding the bikes down to Goose Rocks Beach (where the sister hotel Tides Beach Club set us up with loungers, umbrella and towels) and we equally enjoyed spending... More

Our family of 5 absolutely loved our 2 night stay at Hidden Pond. Our cottage (Periwinkle #19) was one of the most charming lodging options we have ever experienced. The cottage was spacious with a large kitchen / dining area / sitting area, with a wonderful enclosed porch. The two bedrooms each had a bathroom, with the master bedroom having... More

We have traveled inside and outside of the United States, and have found this diamond right here in Maine! Our cottage was well appointed, a good size yet felt cozy, the surroundings so quiet, the bedding luxurious, near perfect place to vacation and relax. The shuttle service to various locations is a definite plus, no hassle with driving and parking! The... More

I readily admit, I'm a "selective" traveler. Yes, I want to see the local sites, try the area's cuisine, etc. but the fact is, if the accommodations are not as clean as my home, I don't want to sleep there. It just makes for sleep-deprived, cranky travelers when the on-site food is bad, the bed is lumpy, the sheets are... More

Wow, this place is fantastic! Romantic and quiet, tucked in the middle of the woods, with perfectly appointed rooms! Pictures don't do justice. The room is spacious and comfortable( especially the bed!). We loved the outdoor shower. Breakfast consists of fresh fruit, quiche, pastry, and delicious coffee, placed by your door promptly at 8 am. Staff is friendly and helpful.... More

Dear Danielli: I am happy to know that we were able to meet your expectations and then quickly surpass them! Our "nestled-in" location and fine accommodations certainly provide a fantastic first impression and we've worked hard to develop a professional staff who can meet your every need. I am so glad that you were able to be active, while also... More

We just returned from a 5 night stay in a two bedroom cottage called Lucky. Everything about this place is spectacular! The food, the grounds, and the service are wonderful. Each morning my kids cut fresh flowers from the garden and made an arrangement for our cottage. You must eat at Earth, the food is delicious. The nightly s'mores at... More

Dear nfrith: "Lucky", you...I'm glad you enjoyed the cottage! It's one of my personal favorites and was created by a dear friend and local designer. I am happy to hear that you took advantage of the cutting garden as well as the nightly bonfires. These are some of the most simplistic, yet memorable, components of the resort. Earth is a... More

My wife and I returned for our 3rd visit inearly June. As I am disabled we required accessible accommodations. My wife is quite busy during the year and needs some "down time". We.spend a good amount of time in our bungalow cottage. We have dinner in our room and we dined 2 evenings at Earth. My wife frequented the spa... More

my husband and I stay at Hidden Pond for two nights this past week. Even though check in wasn't for several hours, they were able get us into ours early. The... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hidden Pond is a private retreat for those seeking high-end accommodations and personalized services in a relaxed and natural setting. The one and two-bedroom cottages, and new one bedroom bungalows, feature Frette linens, fireplaces, flat screen TVs and Bose sound systems with iPod docks, state-of-the-art kitchens, landscaped outdoor showers and decadent screened porches allowing inside living to virtually extend out amongst the forest. There have been two fantastic additions to the property in 2011. Earth, a collaboration with James Beard Award Winning Chef and Restauranteur, Ken Oringer, is an al fresco restaurant focusing on farm to fork freshness. Heirloom vegetables and herbs are picked daily from the surrounding gardens, and thoughtfully incorporated into both food and beverage menu offerings. Another added amenity is the new Tree Spa, featuring three spa treatment rooms nestled in the trees. The Tree Spa is available to guests only and their services will further ensure your visit is nothing but blissful. ... more   less
