We stayed at Carolyn at Buck for 2 nights in August. It is really a beautiful, quite place close to Acadia, Bar Harbor and other small villages. The scenery wherever you go around is just beautiful and the garden of the house itself has a view to the sea, with plenty of trees and nice spots to enjoy the views.... More

We stayed here for our trip to Acadia. We usually aim cheap, but decided to endulge a bit. Worth EVERY penny. Beautiful place, delicious breakfasts, and extremely accommodating and nice hosts. Caroline and Buck literally made our trip. They will bend over backwards to make sure you have a great stay. Excellent excellent excellent. Stay here while you still can.

This was the perfect place for us. Very calm serene surrounding with exceptional service. The owners were absolutely fantastic. Every morning we were served an amazing full course breakfast. We could not have asked for a better stay. We have been to many b&b's but this greatly exceeded our expectations. Lisa and Brian

Although we found it very difficult to find initially it was worth it when we arrived. The location is amazing and the sort of place you could just sit and stare. The fact that the innkeeper has been an interior decorator was obvious as the inside of the house was very beautiful. The gourmet breakfast was different each morning. The... More

First of all, the innkeepers were very attentive and clean. I had some of the best gourmet breakfasts of my life. The inn was located on a beautiful peninsula with a private view of water that is fed by Frenchmans Bay. Easy to access conveniences.

My husband and I had the great pleasure of spending 3 nights at the Cottage by the Sea. The setting is simply wonderful...inside and out. A wonderful style B&B that is very warm and relaxing. Have stayed in many B&Bs and never experienced a breakfast meal and setting as gorgeous as Carolyn and Buck provide. Our room was nicely decorated... More

Great stay. Watermelon and feta salad, French toast with blueberry syrup, crab quiche. Wow. Quiet location between Acadia and Schoodic. Carolyn and Buck were terrific.

A lot of Bed & Breakfasts fall into the "quaint" category, but I've never been in one with a more expertly decorated interior. Carol, who runs Cottage by the Sea with her husband Buck, has a background in design that comes through elegantly in all the rooms available to a guest. Sitting in the breakfast room is so light, pretty,... More

Stayed at this bed & breakfast over a weekend. Its located close to lots of great Maine attractions like Acadia national park. From the start making reservations was easy. Its a beautiful B&B which is modern and contemporary, but has a very comfortable and homey feel. It overlooks the water, and has great areas to sit and sip a coffee... More

We are experiencing difficulty with Google Maps. From High St in Ellsworth, as you pass Walgreens on your left, get into the left lane and turn left onto Route 1 at the lights.Continue on Route 1 about 4 miles, pass Shirley's Yarn Shop on the right and cross the little bridge just beyond Shirley's. Viking Lumber will be on the right, slow down and get in the right lane. At the edge of Viking property, you will see mailboxes and a dirt road (don't worry about the dirt road, it is part of the Maine scene) with street sign that says Ranch Rd.Turn onto Ranch Rd, turn left into Kilkenny cove, we are the second driveway on the right. ... more   less
