If you happen to be in Augusta and need a place to stay, try Second Street B&B instead of the big chain hotels out by the highway for comfortable accommodations in a gorgeous old mansion, easy walking distance to a variety of shops and restaurants on the main street that goes along the Kennebec River in picturesque Hallowell. Sarah, the... More

This B & B is EXCEPTIONAL. It is a beautifully updated 1830's home turned into a 4 room upstairs, 1 room main floor room gem. The rooms are beautifully decorated and spacious with modern bathroom facilities. The inviting wrap around porch is a relaxing place to have morning coffee or unwind after a full day. Sara and King add their... More

A very charming B&B in trendy Hallowell. The room that we stayed in (as well as the rest of large house) was totally renovated in a tasteful manner and well equipped. Breakfast was simple by tasty and conversation with the hosts was laid back and engaging. They have wonderfully eclectic art and crafts throughout the house which we enjoyed looking.

I have never enjoyed my stay more! The owners are fantastically helpful and interesting. We came in October when the apples were in season, and came back to the b&b one evening to a surprise treat of all of the local apples that were ripe for picking. It was quite a treat! Also every breakfast was several courses of fresh... More

Recently stayed here on a business trip and would highly recommend it to any business or vacation traveler. From the minute I stepped foot inside everyone was extremely welcoming. The room was very spacious and stylish with exposed brick and even a fireplace. The bed was very comfortable and set the stage for a great night's sleep. The breakfast was... More

Beautiful B&B, large rooms, very comfortable beds, lovely & tasteful breakfasts, & a lovely porch for sitting. Very short & enjoyable walk to downtown resturants, shops, bars, walking trails, & the scenic Kennebec River. This is the only place I stay when in the area. Who could ask for anything more.

We only spent one night here, passing through Maine. It was an excellent choice, where we were made very welcome round some very minor family issues which made us feel quite at home. We had an excellent room, full of character. It was an easy walk to the main street to eat. (Here is the one point where we differed... More

On late notice I requested staying here. This was one of the best experiences of my life. Wonderful Sarah and daughter Dena are terrific woman and wonderful hostesses. Burley King , the man of the place, couldn't have been sweeter or more helpful. The food was great, the porch is a fine and relaxing place to rest. Best of all... More

Stayed at Second Street for a family celebration and it was wonderful! The house and rooms are charming and eclectic. It's just a short walk into Hallowell-so it was great to leave the car parked and walk into town for dinner. Enjoyed a glass of wine in the library before bed-felt like home-only better! Breakfast was fabulous both mornings. Free... More

We spent 6 years spending Parent's Weekend in Maine and needing to find a hotel in-between the 2 - fortunately, during the last 2 years, we were able to stay in the Augusta area, where our son was located. I went on line and found the Second Street Bed & Breakfast, which was truly a wonderful find! Sara Dix, and... More
