as a frequent traveler, (46 states and a bunch of countries so far) i rarely get to stay home. Trebor Mnasion feels like home to me. let's see... yes, the place is set in the beautiful, rustic part of Maine, yes there is nature everywhere, yes there is a lovely little diner close by, and yes, they have lots and... We visited Trebor Mansion Inn and the host, Robert, showed us around. Really neat place! The sleeping rooms are all unique and there are several sitting rooms with tons of interesting books and antique furniture. It was a nice day to enjoy great conversation on the roomy porch and view the naturally beautiful grounds, glad we took the time to... More

What was to be a two-night stay became a four night stay! We had planned to go to Bar Harbor for the remaining three days of our vacation but opted on staying here for two more days simply because it was so wonderful. All the rooms were quite comfortable. Robert is the consummate gentleman; steward to all wonderful things around... More

After a debilitating illness this inn was recommended as a place to rest and recover. It became a wonderful adventure discussing all world issues with the exciting owner and a variety of interesting visitors on the beautiful veranda. Or I could have compleat quiet in my private room with balcony watching multitudes of butterflies in the wild flowers. Perusing all... More

The innkeeper called me clueless after reading my review (which I am now reposting under my Tripadvisor account). I read all about the place, and what I saw may have been a butterfly garden, but it presented like an overgrown yard that looked terrible. A neighbor actually shook his head at me in knowing as I drove off. As if... More

The bad: I was made to believe the inn was booked, so I should send the full amount of the weekly stay in advance to secure a spot. Upon arrival, I found I was the only one there for the entire week. Conveniently a person just left, and another guest was coming the day after I left. I felt uncomfortable... More

The clueless walk among us, and seemingly more and more as time goes by. My favorite clueless chronicle was the guy in Pennsylvania who knocked on the Amish innkeeper's door at 2 AM - to ask if he could buy a condom :-) There are people who feel that the proper setting for a B&B is a sort of miniature... My reason for staying at this Inn was because my daughter who just turned 15 got her dream camera and she loves mansions and anything that has history. After doing a bunch of research I came across the Trebor Mansion Inn. Intrigued by it's history I researched a bit more. There was not a whole lot of history but just... More

Having looked at the recent reviews of the Trebor Mansion, it certainly piqued our interest as an unusual place to stay on our trip through Maine. Having communicated previously by email with Robert, the owner, I arranged to phone to confirm on our departure from Portland. Our journey was uneventful and outstandingly beautiful. We were met on arrival by Robert... More

We spent a lovely evening at the Mansion, eating pizza on the front porch (from the pizza restaurant in town) and enjoying the peace and quiet until late into the evening. Since we had the tower room, we took advantage of the tower (up the drop-down ladder) to do some reading in the morning. Robert was pleasant and had so... More

I have added another To- Do to my (already quite lengthy) bucketlist after having spent the past two days at Trebor Mansion Inn in Guilford, Maine-- I told my husband that I wanted to come back and just sleep for 4 days straight cuddled up in the king-sized bed of the Luxury Room suite. The bed was topped with the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
"The folks here at Trebor have succeeded in creating a truly original and interesting place to stay - not such an easy feat these days! as so many things become more generic. Guests have the run of the mansion, beautiful architecture and woodwork, great privacy, unlike so many other B&Bs. Luxurious sheets and beds, every room unique, come and go as you please, very reasonable prices - we could have paid 4 times as much for equal luxury a few miles away. Antiques and history galore, and a little mystery too, although they assured us the ghost was gone since the fire of 10 years ago. When we were there, there were guests staying for 10 days, and you can’t afford that most places these days. A best buy, a wonderful experience." ... more   less
