My husband and I planned this trip 27 years ago, before children and family commitments interfered; we finally were able to take the trip this past week. It was everything we hoped for and more. We are already planning a return trip with more couples. We skied in the 6.5 miles, and the staff brought in our heavy bags. Our... More

If you cross country/ back country ski or snowshoe and there is snow in Greenville, get you and your gear to Little Lyford. The Appalachian Mtn Club owns and runs it and has honed its back country lodging skills over 125 years with their White Mountain, NH high huts. It's rusticity with all the amenities. But if you demand 600... More

The fire in the woodstove was lit and the cabin was toasty when we arrive after our 7 mile ski into Little Lyford. The salmon dinner in the lodge was delicious and the staff friendly and helpful. Despite limited snow cover, the grooming made the roads and trails a delight. The sauna was a great way to relax after a... More

No better way to embrace the Maine Woods!! Spectacular service! The food was excellent. Staff were attentive. Cabins were clean and warm d/t wood stoves. Bathrooms spotless without odor - remarkable for a chem free composting system. Other guests were universally kind and polite. A true getaway!!

My son and I skied into Little Lyford and were welcomed by a terrific staff, hot sauna and fantastic rustic cabin (with wood stove already stoked). The family-style meals were all amazing and served by a very friendly, caring staff. Truly a gem of a resort and collection of rustic cabins!

We skied in over groomed trails 7 miles and arrived at twilight to see the gas lights through the trees. The cluster of cabins is out of a the Hobbit or a Swiss village. We could have arranged to take a dog sled, maybe next time. We stayed in the Mountain View Cabin which has one large room and two... More

my wife and I just spent two nights here and it was great. The staff was great, the food was awesome and the area is beautiful. Highly recommend this place for a trip to the woods for some peace and quiet with good hiking, fishing & paddling.

A quiet, private cabin in the woods, with wood stove and sink, gas lanterns. Two plentiful and delicious home cooked meals daily as well as a satisfying bagged lunch. Pleasant, kind and helpful staff. Canoes and kayaks to quench your paddling needs. Walk through Gulf Hagas, or saunter around a pond, watch the loons or climb a mountain. Fly fish... More

Stayed 4 nights at Little Lyford for the first time this week and it was such a great experience. Access to kayaking/canoeing, mountain biking and hiking is right outside your cabin door. The staff were very accommodating (vegetarian meals for example) and knowledgeable about hiking trails in the area including ones that don't show up on maps. We enjoyed relaxing... More
