We made our third winter trip to Gorman Chairback in February. Most folks ski in about 6-8 miles (depending on route) and the AMC brings your luggage so you ski with a daypack. The skiing was great with groomed trails. The staff were friendly and went out of their way for us. The food was great. We enjoyed the sauna... More

We spent two days and nights at Gorman Chairback as the last leg of our week long West Branch Pond-Little Lyford-Gorman snowshoe trek in the Maine back woods. We stayed in cabin 9, one of two new "deluxe" cabins with in-cabin bathrooms, propane heat and power. Most cabins are older, clean with wood heat and propane lamps and share bathrooms,... More

On our first ever visit to Gorman Chairback, we found a fun helpful and charming crew that made us feel so welcome, together with an incredible cook (thank you Michael). We opted for the luxury cabins and they were all that we could have hoped for. Here are three vignettes: Beautiful ski trails all around, followed by a hot shower... More

We had an incredible time skiing lodge to lodge. It's remote and beautiful. Surrounded by snow and friends, our trip has become an annual tradition. The cabins are rustic and comfortable, a perfect escape. The best part of a day out in the backcountry is coming back to the lodge. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Coffee always on, hot... We skied to Gorman Chairback Lodge & Cabins (GCLC) from Little Lyford (about 7 miles). We had been very pleased with our accommodations at Little Lyford, but we were in for quite a treat when we reached GCLC. Again there are a lot of small cabins clustered around the main lodge. The difference is that the main lodge was rebuilt... More

Less funky than nearby Little Lyford Pond Camps (also a wonderful spot), this is where you come if you want a soft bed (not a bad thing!). Be prepared to get up early and pack in a full day of activity. You'll need to to avoid gaining weight from the amazing food they serve. Great staff. Cabins along the pond... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at Gorman Chairback after I'd been there over the winter and had an incredible time. This trip, we swam in the lake, stargazed, and went out on the water to witness lovely sunrises and sunsets in easily accessible kayaks, canoes, and even paddle boards. We'd have stayed a week if we could! Highly recommended for... More

We had a wonderful few days with our family (11 of us) - three generations, aged 4 to 68. The staff was friendly and helpful and took great care of us. The food is fabulous and plentiful. We hiked, kayaked, canoed, paddleboarded, fished, swam, and just relaxed. Our young grandchildren (4,5,6,7) had a ball being able to play freely outdoors. There... More

We stopped here on our dog-sledding adventure (Song of the Woods-wexcellent day trip) for a lovely lunch. The lodge was one of the off-the-grid lodges in the AMC conservation area. Our lunch was only $12 each and consisted of soup, sandwich, beverage and chips. The food was excellent quality and the staff was friendly, accomplished and all out great.

We visited here last summer right before the opening of Gorman. The great staff gave us a little pre-opening tour and I couldn't wait to stay here. We skied in across the frozen lake and were greeted by the staff at the beautiful warm lodge. Hot chocolate and hot coffee for me and a beer for my boyfriend. We were... More
