We just returned from two nights at Gorman Chairback celebrating our 40th anniversary with daughters and their husbands. Our cabin (#11) slept 6 comfortably and the lodge was just 20 yards away. Whether skiing on well-groomed trails, seeing moose tracks, birds and an otter or nestled around a woodstove working on a jig-saw puzzle, we couldn't have asked for a... More

We just spent 3 amazing days at Gorman lodge with 16 family members ages 18 months to 77 years. It was amazing. A great staff. Heavenly accommodations in rustic cabins on the edge of a frozen lake. Food was great. Cross country skiing fun. Be prepared for a long ski in or take the snow coach ride.

This was our first time at an AMC lodge. We generally tent or stay in a motel and we usually travel with our kayaks and hiking gear. I had read so much about this place in the AMC magazine we decided to give it a try. Greenville is an awesome little town, fun stores, nice little waterfront and a fantastic... More

Just returned after a marvelous 3 day,two night stay with a group of fellow hikers and kayakers. I stayed in the Octagon cabin which is the oldest cabin on the property - loved the character. The chef and staff provided amazing breakfasts and dinners - freshly grown vegetables, delicious baked goods, ample portions, well prepared. Paddling on Long Pond (lake)... More

We spent Labor Day Weekend at Gorman Chairback Lodge. We have been to other AMC lodges and this is by far the best. The cabins are very clean and well maintained. We did a lot of hiking, canoeing and kayaking, everything is right there waiting for you. The food is excellent and there is plenty of it. The best part... More

We have stayed both winter and summer at Gorman Chairback, part of the Maine AMC lodge system. We had cabin #8, which is an octagon log cabin, situated right on the lake. Very comfortable beds and although our cabin didn't have it's own bathroom, the main lodge was just above us. There are several new cabins that do have their... More

Highly recommend the AMC Gorman Chairback Lodge. The staff were wonderful. Delicious meals. Canoes, kayaks and paddleboards provided. Numerous hiking trails for different abilities outside your doorstep. We stayed in the octangle Cabin 8; plenty of space for four. Hiked Gulf Hagas to see the Screw Auger Waterfalls (two river crossings); Laurie's Ledge and Indian Mountain; and Mt. Kineo. Definitely... More

My husband and I stayed in a rustic cabin (propane lamps but no electricity or plumbing), with an outhouse nearby and a WONDERFUL lodge about 100 yards from the cabin. The library in the lodge was a comfortable atmosphere. The beds in the cabins were incredibly comfortable. The meals were OUTSTANDING and much finer than I expected from a "camping... More

We have been back to the AMC's Gorman Chairback 3 times now. It's that good. Superb setting, great food, friendly staff, and off the grid. Seeing your teenage kids read books on the porch overlooking the lake, up early to pursue trout on the lake, laying on the dock at night looking for meteors or singing at a campfire with... More
