Rustic but very comfortable cabin, beautiful surroundings and gracious hosts. Nice to get back to old fashioned basics and enjoy nature. Loved the hand pump and gas lights and the calls of the loons at night.

We had a wonderful time at Spencer Pond Camps. We needed a place to stay in a pinch and we couldn't have been more pleased with our discovery. We loved getting back to nature and the quiet time it gave our family. Christy and Dana were wonderful hosts. When our son left a cherished toy, they graciously sent it back... More

We've done a considerable amount of camping..when I say camping, I mean in lake front camps and Spencer Pond is by far the best experience we've had. Christy and Dana are wonderful hosts..friendly, hospitable and informative..eager to share their intimate knowledge of the Kokadjo and Greenville area.. Lots of critters to be seen..moose, deer, eagles, hawks, rabbits and more.. Brook... More

Spencer Pond Camps provide a look into days gone by, where you can still see the north woods of Maine and it's beauty while living in rustic, comfortable cabins. Each is decorated uniquely, with snowshoes, oil lamps, old signs. Woodstoves provide ambiance as well as a toasty place to warm up on a cool day. We hunted ruffed grouse, plied... More

What an awesome trip, our 3rd year...we will be back. Christy and Dana are awesome. The Bemsis is a charm and we love staying there. Betty and I really enjoy the time away from it all. No computers, TV or radio for distractions. Every photo taken is a gem. Great place to get away from it all...

It was planned as a couples retreat, but when unexpected things kept my honey from joining me. We decided I would go anyways. From the ride up looking at the beautiful views of Moosehead lake in its full Fall Glory to driving down the back roads into the camps. Spencer Pond Camps is one of those places where you just... Spencer Pond Camps is great! The camps are comfortable, clean and well-appointed. There are many hiking trails in the area, and the camp has kayaks and canoes to use on the lake. Good fishing. We especially appreciated the fact that dogs are welcome. Wildlife watching and star gazing are great!

Our first trip to Spencer Pond and we were amazed! The beauty and the remote location were a bonus for us, as were simple things like the use of kayaks, canoes and bikes during our stay. Comfy beds, great pillows (not to be underestimated) and quiet, dark nights to sleep- definitely getting away from it all! The sound of the... More

Ahhh !! Remoteness at its best ! You drive in to the middle of nowhere and then take a dirt road 14 more miles! Reviewing the website, we thought we were going to an amazing place. Well... from the moment we got there until the moment we left, we were not disappointed ! We arrived after dark. Dana escorted us... More

If you are looking for Maine hospitality, clean cabins with gas lighting and water that you pump from a spring, give yourself a gift, and stay at Spencer Pond Camps. We were there over a weekend, and I slept soundly in the back of the main lodge. The bed was comfortable, the blankets warm, and my pillow stayed puffy all... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Unwind "unplugged and off the grid" in natural beauty, the way life used to be. Built in 1901, Spencer Pond Camps are an authentic and historic Maine Sporting Camp. They are the only cabins on the pond and sit in the shadow of Little Spencer Mountain. 14 miles via dirt roads from our closest neighbors, on an undeveloped and scenic pond. Recognized as an environmental leader, we offer you a choice of six rustic wilderness lakeside housekeeping cabins – each with its own unique personality. The cabins are fully furnished for comfort including screened porches, rocking chairs, woodstoves, libraries and homemade quilts on the beds.Canoes and kayaks are provided free of charge. Plumbing is "out back" and relaxation is everywhere, non-modernized and reminiscent of "Little House in the Big Woods" these cabins will take you back in time. ... more   less
