Greenville/Moosehead Lake was the last stop (3 nights) on our two-week road trip around the Northeast and it's a magical place - perfect for getting The City out of one's system. Our time spent at the Captain Sawyer House was an integral part of that experience. John and Amy are true naturals for this business - really enthusiastic about what... More

We stayed there four nights while attending the 40th annual International Seaplane fly-in. Amy and John are fantastic hosts and went out of their way to make our stay very enjoyable. This B&B is a great value for the price with one of the best locations in town right on the cove. Everything you want to see in town is... More

I'm not really a B&B person. I'm just not. I'm not usually looking for conversation, etc, but rather a place to stay, resort, whatever. I guess I’m weird. Whatever. So consider that when reading this review. We decided kind of last minute, during high season, that we needed to spend the night in Greenville en route to a canoe trip... More

If you need really expensive lodging in a rustic setting, then this isn't for you. Amy and John are friendly, helpful innkeepers. Our room fit our needs of a moderately priced room in high season. Breakfast was very good. Unfortunately, we did not have dinner there, but folks we spoke with in town recommended Captain Sawyer's as a fine eatery,... More

We stayed at Amy and John's B&B nearly a year ago. Their welcome made our stay special; we met the locals, had brunch with Bloody Marys, made friends! If you want to chill out - Moosehead Lake is wonderful and Greenville fantastic. It was like entering the set of Northern Exposure - full of characters and local quirkiness - the... More

I've read the other recent reviews, and I echo all the (positive) sentiments! John & Amy are AMAZING! They are working hard to spruce up the place. They ARE the spirit of the B&B. They were so warm, friendly, helpful, and understanding. My family met at the Captain Sawyer House for a reunion of sorts. We had the back of... More

Amy and John have owned Captain Sawyer for a little more than a year and are in the process of "spiffing" it up.They are very welcoming and easy to talk with. Our room, #4, was quite large with a comfortable king size bed and a view of the lake/downtown Greenville. There is a tavern right underneath the room but sound... More

Stayed here with my wife on the way to quebec off-season and was pleasantly surprised. The hosts are very friendly (sent me back to my room with AMAZING chocolate brownies). Can't say enough about how welcome we felt.

Amy and John are doing all the right things to make Captain Sawyer House a great B&B. Both are very personable, helpful and caring. Good recomendations for eats and local trips. Location is fantastic, close to everything. Forget about any reviews before 2012, its a different place now!

John & Amy are wonderful. We made the reservation in February (Amy was sanding the floor). We were looking for a place to stay close to the Rally events and close to the Resturants and Bars so when we were done riding for the day we could walk to everything. In July when we got there, we meet John (walking... More
