We stayed at The George as it was close to where I was working over the weekend. We were expecting 'cheap and cheerful' due to the low price but what we got was much much more! We arrived to be greeted by a lovely young lady who showed us to our room. We were also greeted by 'Paige' the dog... More

We stayed at the George because it was conveniently located but we're really glad we found it. It's a cosy, traditional pub with open fires and a friendly welcome. We had a nice afternoon strolling around the village (the farm shop is worth a visit) followed by lovely evening meal (home made tartare sauce was fantastic) The accommodation was a... More

Stayed over the new year in this quaint little village and had a lovely experience, the people were nice, accommodation very comfy, food well cooked and presented, possibly the best chips we've ever tasted, thank you The George.

Travelling from Wales we used the George as a base to visit family living in the area for the weekend. The welcome was warm and nothing was too much of a bother for Debs and Jamie. Excellent breakfast and a lovely country pub feel. The locals made us welcome and even joined us for a game of darts and cheered... More

We based ouselves for a weekend in Rutland at The George. The room and bathroom were spacious and clean. The accomodation in the barn was very warm, no frills but just perfect for a weekend. The accomodation is very well priced. The staff at the Pub was very friendly and we felt very welcomed. The menu is not vast, but everything... More

Not what I expected! Had the impression that it was going to be a trendy, modernized pub! But no it’s a traditional, old English inn. Not many like this remain in England; this is a gem in a lovely small village. Locals playing dominoes, table clothed dining area, and every one very friendly. We had a drink, selected our food... Went in for lunch as we live locally. Quite surprised by the lunch menu, a bit "80s pub grub" - ham egg and chips, scampi, etc, plus a range of sandwiches. The only veggie choice was a cheese sandwich. Food came promptly (hardly anybody was eating) and was hot and tasty. Of note was the incredibly pleasant landlord, who is... More

We stayed here for one night to celebrate our anniversary. Received a very friendly welcome from the landlord who personally showed us to our room. The room was very clean and modern. The bed was very comfortable and the en- suite was small but perfectly formed. The only negatives were that there was no soap in the bathroom and the... More

We stayed here for three nights, the warm welcome form staff and the locals was really comforting. The room was spotlessly clean and everything new and modern with good en-suite. It’s location is central so if you like to fish different lakes, it’s just ten minutes from Eyebrook, thirty minutes from Rutland, these are two lakes we fished, but Grafham... More
