Finding places to stay on a long road trip needs a lot of planning and I'm always grateful for the reviews on Tripadvisor because reading the details of other travellers experiences really helps me make my decisions. I'm SO glad I read about the Maine Idyll Motor Court...it truly is a gem. We stayed at MIMC in August for one... More

Fellow traveler MellowD17 said it very well -- see further below. You can't stay at this wonderful place if you're accustomed to modern chains. We stayed here precisely because it *wasn't* a modern chain. It's unique and lovely. We stayed in cabin 11 for four nights. You can pull your vehicle right up to the room, which makes for easy... We were traveling in New England and stayed at this location. The price was low and wanted to stay in a location in Freeport. The place looked cute from the road and the young girl at the main office was very nice. WiFi was not good in all locations of the cabins but we were put in a cabin near... More

This is a great place for people and dogs. They have 20 cottages with differing amenities. All have kitchens with some having fireplaces with wood supplied. There are BBQ grilles located throughout the property for use. Dogs are very welcome. Our cottage had 2 queen beds with a working kitchen with plates, utensils and pans. The cottages are serviced everyday... More

We used to live just down the street in Portland, Maine and love to come back. We usually stay at B&Bs in Portland or Freeport, but the Maine Idyll may be our go to spot from now on. We needed a one night stay on a trip up to Canda and it's tough to find a spot for only one... More

This was our second stay at the Maine Idyll Motor Court, the first in May of 2013, and we love this place! It is the true flavor of Maine. If you are accustomed to upscale hotels with porters and valets, you do not belong at the Maine Idyll Motor Court. You may not even belong in the breathtaking, raw, rugged... More

This motor court features cabins like those some of us older travelers remember from trips of years ago, They are well maintained and comfortable. Each has a fireplace and a small kitchenette, as well as a little front porch with rockers or Adirondack chairs. There are fans for the summer (no A/C, but this is Maine, after all-you don't really... More

We stayed in cabin 12 for 5 nights and loved every minute of our stay. Easily accessible to Freeport and Brunswick this was the ideal location for us stay as we explored the area. The cabin had a porch with 2 rockers, TV with satellite service, A/C, a fireplace, kitchenette, full bath and 2 bedrooms. The beds were super comfortable... More

There aren't many of these cottage motor hotels left, but Maine is a great place to find them and this one is a good find. It's kept up well but don't expect luxury. Our unit was a two bed cottage with kitchenette and bath. Don't expect luxury and great amenities - but you are close to nature, and still get... More

During the 1930's, Americans went out on motor trips with their cars. In the beginning they slept in them. Then, Motor Courts popped up all over the country to satisfy the needs of the "tin can'' tourists as they were called. The Maine Idyll has been in business and run by the same family since 1932. The units are clean... More
