Wonderful location outside of Freeport. We stayed on our way up the Maine Coast. We came from Boston and were headed to Bar Harbor. The staff was helpful & knowledgable. The cabin we stayed in was small, but very clean and very affordable. I would love to return someday!

We only stayed for a night, but just loved it! The cabin was rustic yet with a number of modern touches and an excellent layout (#14): wide wooden plank flooring, paneling, open room with 2 beds, dining area, small kitchen (stove top, small fridge, microwave, sink), large screen TV with many channels, comfortable rocking chairs, small but fully adequate bathroom... This is the second time we have stayed at the Maine Idyll. This tourist court takes me back to the 50's when our family traveled and stayed in cabins. The first time we stayed here I randomly selected Cabin 18 and it was such a treat, so I selected it again. It is the oldest of the cabins and was... More

Our job requires the four of us to travel weekly. We all agree that we had one helluva room/cottage/cabin for the price. Normally we would get two separate hotel rooms for around 180 per night. This cottage #16 was $130 a night had 3 bedrooms and four beds! We were more than pleased. We didn't get to chat much with... More

We stayed here over the July 4th weekend and enjoyed the simplicity and surrounding areas very much. The places (cottages) are spare and simple and everything we wanted...not your average chain hotel. The place had a "patina" that we found very lovely and refreshing.

These are nice little cabins with basic needs. There is a dorm size fridge, little sink, dishes, dish towels, plenty of lighting, wood burning fireplace, nice size heater if you don't want to have a fire, porches on each cabin with comfy chairs, picnic tables, desk, dresser, wood floors (which means no yucky carpeting). They even supplied the firewood and... More

We stayed in cottages #2 and #5 the night of August 15 after taking the red eye from Salt Lake City. We had a room booked in Portland for big $s but thought what the heck lets try this instead after reading other Trip adviser reviews. Close to town so it was an easy drive to Freeport but out far... We enjoyed our overnight stay in our little housekeeping cottage of two full beds and mini "kitchen" (microwave, fridge & coffee maker). Bathroom was sufficient and everything was very clean & well maintained. The beds were the smaller full size but that seems to be common in a lot of older hotels/inns. The furnishings were lovely - I really loved... More

We stayed at the Maine Idyll as a base while exploring a bit of the Maine coast and were very impressed with the simplicity of the little cabins, the comfortable accommodations, and the peaceful vibe of the property. It's so different from the crazy atmosphere in Freeport , with the various L.L. Bean stores and outlets. The staff was very... More

We wanted to stay someplace very "Maine," and this was perfect! Some miles north of downtown Freeport, where the shopping frenzy is chaotic, is this wonderful, old-fashioned motor court that is comfortable and charming. The women who work there were helpful to us. We were traveling with our Jack Russell terrier, and sometimes it is hard to find a good... More
