This is a very unusual B&B. If you are traveling with kids or pets and desire an extremely casual environment, you will be very happy here. Unlike most B&Bs, there was very little separation between the family and the guests. In fact, we ate breakfast with the owners, their three children and dog. Instead of an inn, It felt more like staying with friends or relatives, kids toys, messy kitchen and all. Overall, it was a pleasant stay. The room was large and comfortable, the breakfasts were plentiful and delicious and the family was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. But we found it too casual for the price. We paid more for our room here than we have for more traditional, "fancier" places. Little things were missing -- our bed wasn't made each day, there was no meat with breakfast and the house wasn't as spic and span as you'd expect for a B&B. Our fourth visit to Freeport, and the fourth time we've stayed here. It's a small B&B with 3 rooms, though they are expanding with an addition. Old New England home that we find simply relaxing and peaceful.

Chip and Janet are the owners, and are onsite with their 3 kids. Very laid back atmosphere. Fireplace in the living room with a small collection of magazines and books. Dining room is excellent. Snacks, tea, coffee, hot chocolate available at your leisure.

Breakfast is simply fantastic. They worked around our schedule to serve early one morning, and later on another day. Pancakes, belgian waffles, fruits, bacon, and muffins hot out of the oven... You let them know what you like for breakfast and it's there!

They are very pet-friendly at Maple Hill. We have a golden-retriever mix, and I think he has even more fun then we do! We can leave him in the room when we go shopping, and there are plenty of areas to walk him on property and nearby. If...
