One of the striking things about Pilgrim's, of relatively modest size, is that there are three public rooms (lounges): one for reading, one for TV and board games, and one on the eating level where you can linger before and after meals. It makes for relaxation and a sense of community even as guests and locals (in the evening) stream... More

We arrived in Deer Isle after 4 nights rather wet camping in Acadia NP with a view to have a rather more comfortable and relaxing few nights. On arrival we were warmly greeted and allowed some outside space to dry off our tent. This turned out to be the only dry few hours of our stay on Deer Isle, but... More

Great location ,nice staff, excellent food, good value - Pilgrim's Inn scores highly on almost every count. The only exception to this is the condition of the rooms, both public rooms and bedrooms. Whilst comfortable they are all somewhat 'tired ' and overdue a makeover. Most of the rugs, for example, have seen much better days.

We spent three nights here at the end of the season. We got to stay in two different rooms as the big room we had booked ( Room 4)and in which we spent one night had plumbing issues. This is a really lovely room and bathroom. We were shown other options and decided on a smaller room up steep stairs... More

On a recommendation, I visited Deer Island with my boyfriend while on a recent trip to Maine and stayed at Pilgrim's Inn for a few days. The grounds were beautiful and so was the house. We stayed in Room 12. We were told the room is really meant for one person but we took it anyway. You can do it... More

The Inn was great and in a very remote part of Maine (city boy here - not exactly what I expected, especially the weird "blowing up of things at midnight" one night...) - we unfortunately chose the smallest room on the uppermost floor, which was marketed as a room for one, and it really is - but it functioned fine.... We stayed here one night as part of a Backroads bike trip. (The innkeeper was a bit hostile about giving Backroads an additional room for a friend who was trying to join the trip. Even though one was available, she initially refused but finally relented.) When I checked in and tried to change rooms because ours was on the busy... More

We appreciate the feedback from this reviewer and are always working to ensure our guests have an excellent experience at Pilgrim's Inn. Working with large touring groups can often present limitations for both us and the participants because of the unique and small nature of our 15 room property, which is why after this year we will no longer be... The inn is amazing. It is so well kept, you almost forget you're in 2013 and not the late 18th century. We were looking for an inn with water views and Pilgrim's Inn has wonderful views! Our room looked out the front of the house to the water beyond. The room was very large. Our only complaint was that the... More

This is a classy place all around. The Inn is great, service is great, and the restaurant downstairs is a winner. We did not plan on eating there every night, but we did. My wife and I would definitely go back and hope to do so in the near future.

This was my first experience 'down-East' in Maine and Pilgrim's Inn was a big part of why I enjoyed it as much as I did. The accommodations -- especially our stay in the cottage -- was super. Homey, comfortable, cozy, but put together with elegance and flair. We also spent nights in a smaller room -- it was adequate but... More
