Sometimes innkeepers just get it right. Two mirrors so when the single bathroom is occupied, someone can put on makeup or comb his or her hair; a hanging mirror to see if your hem is crooked; double-ply bathroom tissue (please!). Free water. Frig for guests. Hawthorne Inn (under new ownership) is a perfect example. It is a lovely place, walkable... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hawthorn Inn, and Camden in general. Walking distance to both the town (less than 5 mins) and to the State Park (15 - 20 mins to park entrance). Our room was in the Carriage House, lovely and quiet away from the main road. A little old fashioned, but perfectly comfortable with a cool... More

This beautiful bright yellow 1890 home was a fantastic B&B in Camden. Lisa and Ted warmly welcomed us and were quite helpful to suggest great places to eat dinner. Our room, the Emma Knight, was a suite in the lower part of the inn which would have been perfect for a family with children. The room was quite unique with... More

We spent one night here on our way up to Bar Harbor. We stayed in the Emma Knight room and would not choose it again. When we booked the room we had to select a second choice and we did not check our second choice. The room is in the basement below the kitchen. We were woken up at 5:30am... More

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you did not have a restful sleep the night that you stayed at the Hawthorn Inn. As we have taken ownership of the inn on June 24, 2014, we are still learning the idiosyncrasies of each room. The Emma Knight room has presented a challenge for us. Historically, it has been... We arrived in Camden on a dark and stormy night (well, it was a very wet afternoon) and were referred by another inn to the Hawthorne. The bright yellow exterior cheered us up immediately, as did the spacious carriage house room with a large bathroom and outdoor terrace. But for me, a dyed-in-the-wool-dessert-for-breakfast devotee, the best thing about the Hawthorne,... More

Newly acquired by Ted & Lisa, this is a beautiful property. Our room (2B in the Carriage House) was large and airy, had a private deck overlooking the grounds, separate shower and a spa tub you could do laps in. Ted does the cooking and delicious breakfasts are served out of doors in nice weather or in the bright dining... More

The inn is perfectly located for walking to town. Hosts Lisa and Ted are most accommodating and gracious. The choices for breakfast were scrumptious especially when served outside on the veranda. The room was totally comfortable deserving a return visit.

We spent four wonderful days at the Hawthorn Inn. The new owners, Lisa and Ted, are fabulous. They are gracious and welcoming and cannot do enough to make you feel comfortable and special. The breakfasts are a feast for both the eyes and the palate. The weather was perfect and we had breakfasts served to us in their beautiful backyard.... More

New owners are friendly, gracious and accommodating hosts. Rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Breakfasts really are gourmet. They even prepared breakfast to go for a very early departure. The Inn is close to central Camden and the harbor. Definitely a place to return to.
