Sometimes... the fog can block the view from the top of the mountain on occasion and the view of the islands AND the foliage at this time of year can also be spectacular. I've been there before: ran to the top of MT. Battie on Sunday morning. No one there. the view was MISTICAL (just fog), but a more peaceful... More

Tent camped at site 47 June 20-22 2014. Very nice wooded sites w electric, water, and wifi. Good security and staff interactions. Great location with access to hiking trails and auto road to Mount Battie within the campground. Restrooms kept very clean and private showers that always had hot water when we went each morning. Weather was perfect and had... More

I pulled up here and was excited about the opportunities. I asked the ranger if they had a scenic sites, something up on the mountain with a view, and the response was "We don't have anything like that here" What they do have are almost 100 campsites on several loops with centralized showers and bathrooms. I don't know that any... More

The hike up to the ocean view is absolutely well worth it (also accessible via car), providing uninstructed views of charming Camden below, the harbor/bay, and beyond to Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. The hike is an easy 45 minutes up, so plan accordingly and give yourself enough time to hike (or drive) and get back down before the... More

Camden Hills State Park is part if the Maine state parks and campgrounds system. This is my favorite. The campsites themselves are average in size, but feel cramped to me because I like a more rustic setting. There's good space between the sites with paths leading to the bathroom and showers building in the center. We stay in one of... More

It's not Bar Harbor, Mt Acadia or Kadahdin but it's accessible, affordable, friendly, and beautiful. Hike Mt. Megunticook for a good workout & great views then take gentle stroll through nearby Fernalds Neck Preserve for a view of Lake Megunticook and some mushroom foraging (if you time it right). Only drawback-level sites for RVs are limited--reserve or get there early!... More

The next time we are in Camden, Maine, we are staying here. Reasonable off season rates. Close to town yet still very much in the woods. Private wooded sites with water and electricity if needed. Oh and to mention some great family hikes with beautiful ocean vistas. There is also some Technical Rock Climbing here if your an experienced climber... More

My family and I spent a beautiful morning hiking the Megunticook trail in the state park. The payoff was amazing - sweeping views of ocean, lakes and hills at Ocean Lookout. However, this is a strenuous 1 mile climb over a lot of rocks. While the trail is mostly shaded, do not underestimate the need for proper hiking boots, plenty... More

An all you need campground. We are in a 27 foot trailer with one slide. The sites are very spacious, treed and private. The washrooms are clean with free showers. Lots of hiking, if you are a biker you can easily ride into the town of Camden to take in it’s shops and sights. The only thing I could see... More

We car camped here for two nights. Friendly, helpful staff. Ultra clean restrooms, with hot showers and plenty of hot water. The camp sites have fire rings and picnic tables. The sites are not crowded and the park was quiet and well-run. We had a perfect stay. The park provides free wi-fi at most of the sites.
