We had a wonderful stay in Camden at the historic Whitehall Inn. We chose the Whitehall Inn based on positive reviews we found on the internet and also because of its marvelous website. Greg and Sue, the owners, were extremely kind and helpful, but not overbearing. They had wonderful suggestions for our first visit to Maine. The rest of the... more

From the outside the inn looked okay. The rooms were clean but mediocre and the interior was quite inhomogeneous. Our room #39 definitely needed a brush-up. The bathroom was poor. The soundproofing in the hotel is absolutely lousy – we could hear every step from the people one floor up. The place was run more than a hotel than as... more

Whitehall was so charming - from the large outdoor porches complete with rocking chairs, to the lobby decorated with antiques. This is the quintessential B&B! And the breakfast was fantastic. This had the same charm as the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, MI. more

I stayed at the Whitehall for one night while travelling through to Bar Harbor. I found the hosts friendly & helpful. The rooms were as you would expect in a building of this vintage - I enjoy a clawfoot bath myself! Hotel is within walking distance of the retail centre. more

Reasonable rate, actually the best value we had, traveling from Waterville to Bar Harbor to Portland! The bedding was excellent, affording our best nights sleep! Charming place and staff. A comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The included breakfast was the best we had in a week! We especially enjoyed meeting a young person from Eastern Europe, a smiling and friendly Agnieszka.... more

Cute B&B from the outside, but nothing exciting on the inside. Here are the problems that I found with my experience at Whitehall: - Rooms were dingy. - Old, stained furniture and rugs - Tiny dorm-like rooms - Tiniest bathroom I've ever had to use on a vacation with a horrible claw-foot bathtub that was difficult to get in/out of,... more

This guest was unhappy that we could not have someone lower the mirror in her bathroom. The owners of the inn are not tall people, and the mirrors easily accommodate them. Like most hotels, we cannot remodel to suit one guest’s preference. The room is bright and sunny. It has sparkling hardwood floors with new and very clean carpet runners....

I stayed at the Whitehall Inn for two nights this August, and had a spectacular time. I think the owners have done a fantastic job of updating an old inn, but still keeping it charming. The Grasshopper I was served on the front porch was a highlight of the week long vacation!. The staff and owners were friendly, without being... more

Beautiful historic inn, restored to turn of the (20th) century era throughout. Large public areas with games and activities. Room was quite comfortable, well appointed. Sitting on the large front porch is a nice way to pass the time. Restaurant is good, too, though surprisingly empty at dinner, busy at breakfast. Nice small bar including service on the porch. more

We have been going to the Whitehall Inn for about 15 years. We always enjoyed our stays. The Dewing family, who owned it for many years, were always friendly and welcomed you back as a returning guest. They made you feel a bit special. The inn is now under new ownership(about 4 years ago). They have made serveral improvements, which... more

Please note numerous other guest comments that talk about the warmth, service and welcoming attitude of the current owners. The filming of Peyton Place was an important part of the inn’s history, as well as the Camden community, and many of the photos show the hundreds of local people who were part of the film. Every day, we hear compliments...
