We stay at the International Motel in Calais about 5 times a year. Comfortable bed, clean and have a microwave and fridge in all rooms. Diner next door for a great home cooked meal. Good sized rooms, small TV, but hey, we are not there to watch TV.

We have stayed here several times while our son was going to Washington County Community College, and we love it! The rooms are clean and have a vintage feel. There is free wi-fi. The staff members are pleasant, helpful, and friendly. The beds are comfortable. Remember that there are no blow dryers provided!

I was late arriving at the airport which meant I would arrive at the Motel after the office had closed. I called Dan at the desk and he suggested a way to get the key to me after hours which worked tremendously well. The room was as he promised and, since it was off season, he did not require a... As other reviewers have stated, this is a basic, no-frills motel with dated decor. Front desk is only open until 10pm, so be sure to check in by then! They do offer both smoking and non-smoking rooms, however I believe they simply put a sign on the desk that says it is a non-smoking room if that is what you... More

Basic older-style motel room. Outdated decor but clean and quiet place. Right next to a restaurant within walking distance. Close to the Canadian border crossing so easy to get out the next morning. Desk clerk polite. WiFi worked well.

I was a little wary about staying at this hotel?there are only 2 hotels in this town so you dont have much choice.but i was pleasantly suprised with my stay.the room was comfortable and clean even though a little musty smelling when walked into the room.i would reccomend this hotel for a short stay.

We stayed in the main older complex as the ones overlooking the water were full. I know retro type motels are making a comeback but the room looked like it was in the year 1973. The walls were paneled and 20 years old shag carpet. Washroom was dingy and towels were terrible. It did have a flat screen TV but... More

This motel is definitely the worst motel I've ever stayed at. The only thing it has going for it is that it's cheap and had parking. From the moment arriving and checking in, the front desk guy was not friendly at all. No please or thank you or good night, just general grumpiness. They close the front desk completely at... More

We were told they had a new section down a few stairs. It's a separate building with 14 steep narrow stairs that make carrying large luggage pretty dangerous. The rooms in the new building are actually 19 years old! We felt very misled. No biggie right? We open the door and are hit with musty odor. No biggie, we will... More

While I was headed to St. John, New Brunswick to run the marathon I stumbled upon the International Motel on the U.S. side of the border. It's not too often after a long day of driving, without a reservation, you end up pleasantly surprised. This beautiful location had an unobstructed view of the St. Croix River, clean spacious room with... More
