While I was headed to St. John, New Brunswick to run the marathon I stumbled upon the International Motel on the U.S. side of the border. It's not too often after a long day of driving, without a reservation, you end up pleasantly surprised. This beautiful location had an unobstructed view of the St. Croix River, clean spacious room with... More

The outside of the motel is nice enough but that ends once you enter the room. It smelled, the bed sheets did not look like they were changed and the bathroom was filthy. After staying there, I came down with a respiratory infection. Stay away.

Nice local hotel, reasonable, clean and comfortable. Convenient to restaurants. Would go back anytime passing through the area. Easy access to bridge to Canada. Nearby amenities include several restaurants, fuel, places for coffee.

This place is horrible. Please avoid. Bugs, crummy shower, musty smelly rooms, poor electrical, TV's are a joke. The biggest issue is there is such a difference in rooms. My room had an old TV with five channels. Other people traveling had different TV's with varying levels of cable. One had a fridge, one did not. Everyone talks about the... More

This room had a terrible smell. The bathroom came from the 50,60,70. Yup updated in decades. I would not step on shower floor with thick boots on, let alone bare feet. So bad we left after half hour & went to great hotel across the street. So bad paid for 2 hotels for one night. On the positive side. The... More

Good size room with 2 queen beds. Mini fridge and micro. Flat screen with lots of TV stations. My room was in RiverView section with view of River and Canada. Nice counter space in bath. I wish there was a comfortable chair/recliner to sit in rather then the boring, uncomfortable dining room chairs. And the hotel has poor sound insulation... More

Very clean, quiet, and, pet friendly! 1960's and 70's furniture and fixtures, that are all in good shape, and to the quaint atmosphere. The view of the river, with St. Stephens, Canada on the other side, is outstanding. Don't expect a doorman or concierge and you won't be disappointed. Nice budget priced place to stay with pets. We will be... More

I picked up some febreeze at Walmart it helped with smell. It's just old. Not dirty but old. Way to much money for this room. I'm used to a hairdryer and toiletries not a bar of soap. There's not much to pick from in Calais but I will definitely we think my choice next time!

First, the party above me begins at 10:45PM, then I try to call the front desk for another room, only to learn that the front desk is closed! No way to contact anyone. Called local police for a number...nada. What a long and sleepless night it was! NEVER, I REPEAT NEVER STAY AT THIS CARDBOARD DIVE!!

I was very nervous about what to expect in this motel but the options are pretty limited in Calais, Maine so this is where we stayed. I am happy to say I was pleasantly surprised! It was a little like stepping back in time booking into this motel. No credit card needed to reserve the room and you have to... More
