My wife and I spent 4 days/nights at Sprucewold in October. We used it as our basecamp for poking around coastal Maine. The lodge dining room was cozy and warm, and while the lodge dates from the 1920s and has that 20s look, it was the hosts were what made the place unique. They made themselves available for conversation at... More

Don't expect luxury but enjoy rustic peacefulness in a log lodge that is nearly 100 years old. While the old lodge is nestled firmly in the Maine woods, the delightful center of Boothbay Harbor is less than a 10 minute drive. Here you will experience one of the most beautiful seacoast towns you have ever encountered.

This was a very reasonable place to stay compared to many other places we tried. We were staying on a weekend night and found the rooms very adequate. The decor is definitely dated but that is part of the charm, Shower was a little small but we managed. The lodge had a definite old smell to it but so would... More

Our family of 5 spent July 4th here this year and have been raving about it to anyone who will listen. It was great value and a unique laid back vacation experience. Our hosts were very helpful in advising us of activities in the area and there is lots to do. We had adjoining rooms to accommodate my husband and... More

What a great lodge! We have stayed here several times. This property was built in the 1920's as a luxury resort. It reminds me of an Adirondack Great Camp, only on a smaller scale. It is rustic Maine at its best, located in the woods only a short drive up the hill from the shores of Boothbay Harbor. The property... More

Sprucewold is a great rustic lodge sitting atop the Maine hills which overlook Boothbay Harbor. Although you can't see the harbor from the lodge, it is very close. If you want a 5 star hotel with full concierge service, I wouldn't stay here. However if you want a rustic Maine Inn with wood burning fireplaces, owners who make your feel... More

We stayed here 3 nights in July and had a wonderful time. Our family consisted of 2 adults, 9 and 7 year old kids. We had a king room adjoining a room with two twin beds, and the layout was perfect. Part of what makes a good vacation is that everyone has their own space and we're not on top... More

I'm so glad we stayed here. I rate unique experiences way over cookie cutter. It was clean, quiet, comfortable and affordable. The breakfast was so good. I had eggs, bacon, sausage, 2 kinds of pancakes and a muffin (there was more than that). The place was decorated with interesting things and Richard was so nice. The fireplace was nice at... More

When our group of 4 couples booked to stay at the Sprucewold we had no idea what to expect!!! When we arrived we checked in across the street (single lane blacktopped country road) from the lodge. We walked into a rustic gathering / restaurant area with 3 fireplaces, fresh flowers, a sitting area and game area. I felt like I... More

When you pull up to Sprucewold Lodge you will think it will be good but when you get inside you are met by an open area with some sofas that as soon as you sit on them there is a little dust cloud, and then you see a stare case with this carpet that is definitely been there for a... More
