Stayed overnight with Brian and Ed, owners of the Topside Inn. What a great stay. We had a room at the top of the stairs facing the harbor, and the view, was spectacular. The room appointments were nice as well. The people we met there were great fun, and had wonderful conversations. The only downside was the shower broke, which... more

the inn has something for everybody! the grounds are immaculate-- lawns, gardens, and best view of the water. the common areas are comfortable, tasteful, and stylish. the guest rooms in the main house are absolutely lovely and full of character. the rooms in the other buildings are more motel style, but are updated and can accomodate children, dogs, etc if... more

I cannot say enough about how great my evening was at Topside. I only wish that I could have stayed longer than one night. We had the room with two beds on the first floor of the main house and it was lovely with its own sitting area. There were fresh cookies in the dining area and dozens of current... more

Don't get me wrong. The main building of this place is decent. I stayed in the lodge building with my dog. The lodge is kind of off to the side. The lodge room for pets has a low ceiling and the walls are warped from humidity (?). The bathroom is old and has no fan. Do not take a shower... more

My wife and I have stayed at the Topside on our annual trip to Maine for what has to be at least twenty years. It has always been a great place to stay as far as location in the town and spectacular views, but since Brian and Ed have taken over in recent years, the accomodations have become excellent as... more

My wife and I stayed at the Topside during our honeymoon B&B trip last fall,. We both agreed that it was our favorite Inn of our vacation. The Topside had rooms with exceptional character and great views. The owners were exceptionally friendly, funny, and prepared an excellent breakfast (homemade granola was terrific). I highly recommend visiting after the tourist season... more

We stayed at Topside last summer, and it was such a great part of our vacation that I had to post a review, even belatedly. Like earlier reviewers, we enjoyed the low-key, nautical decor, the abundance of places (inside and out--tons of comfy chairs, benches, etc.) to sit and take in the wonderful views of the harbor, and a pleasant... more

We visited New England for 3 weeks in September and Topside Inn stood out as a fantastic place to stay. We agree with all previous comments - Brian and Ed are the perfect hosts, the house is homely and immaculate, the breakfasts are amazing and the setting beautiful. We cannot recommend Topside Inn highly enough and our experience there was... more

What can we say that hasn’t been pretty much said already? If you are looking for a lovely inn with gorgeous views in 2 directions at a reasonable price, consider the Topside. The inn is comfortable and stylish rather than luxurious, something we really enjoyed. Sometimes inns can feel a bit too “precious” with endless rules and outrageous prices. Not... more
