If you like cock roaches, moldy smell, grandma's old linens and no amenities then stay at Thompson's cottages. I can't believe they charge $175/night for this. Stay away! I would have rather stayed in a tent.

We rented the dockside cottage for a week in July 2009. It was very clean and well appointed. The porch overlooking the dock and Townsend Gut were great. We sat and watched the boats every morning and evening. We docked our small boat right at our back door which was very convenient. From there we explored the coast from Port... More

We stayed in the Dockside Cottage that was right on the dock with a deck overlooking the water. It had a wonderful view of the harbor and lobster docks. The cottage was quite large with a full kitchen, living room, and one bedroom. It was very clean and comfortable. Our host, Alice included a free boat ride to Boothbay Harbor... More

Alice and Dick were wonderful hosts. My car rental was cancelled at the last minute and no other cars were available from Boston. Alice and Dick investigated options for me and found a bus I could take to Portland (that showed sailing movies) and then changed their plans to drive over an hour to pick me up in Portland. I... My husband and I stayed in the Lobster Shack (one of the cottages) and it was great! We were on the water and could watch the lobster boats come and go. The cabin was clean and well maintained and had everything you could need. Our host were wonderful and even took us for a boat ride!! Incredible views from our... More

We loved staying at the Dockside Cottage right on the water with a deck for just relaxing with the amazing view. Sitting up in bed first thing in the morning we could look out the window and see lobstermen going about their work. We had a comfortable bed in a room separate from the living room and kitchen with all... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay with charming hosts, Alice and Dick Thompson. The Gray Cape was delightful with all the comforts of home. Everything was first class, especially the beds. No scaled down thrift store quality rental junk in this house! Only accessories you would buy yourself such as dishes, glasses, pots and pans, etc. The upstairs bedroom was huge and... More

My husband and I have stayed with Alice and Dick Thompson on 4 occasions, and each has been a flawless week. Ms. Thompson has thought of every possible convenience for a comfortable, carefree stay. The cottages are set on a beautiful green lawn with a direct view of the water (one of the cottages has a deck (with furniture) that... More

Our experience at the Thompson Inn was probably the best vacation experience we have ever enjoyed. The accommodations were excellent, with a kitchion, living room and bedroom, and under the cabinet, we even found a lobster pot and complete instructions on a sign on the wall showing how to cook lobster. We went to the lobster pound across the bay... More
