I found Smuggler's Cove on RoomSaver.com. We were trying to be economical and just get a cheap night away for our Anniversary. We reserved the room with the $49.00 rate (Oars? I believe) with the understanding of it being an older building that had not been renovated. The room was smaller, older and somewhat smelly, but it was ocean view!... more

Excellent location close enough to town but on a beautiful piece of property with it's own small beach and dock. Very relaxing place to stay, staff is very accommodating. Room had a great view and balcony. more

A bit off the beaten path, Smuggler's Cove Inn sits nestled along a small cove on Boothbay Harbor coast. I went slightly off season (the week before Memorial Day weekend), so there were only a handful of other occupants. The rates are reasonable off-season ($85, which included a mysterious $5 fee they couldn't explain very well). The Good: The room... more

We think the Smugglers Cove Inn is the perfect oceanfront inn because we like the quiet, natural setting, a few miles from the honkey-tonk of downtown. My husband loves to fish, so he was up early in the morning, standing on the float with his line in the water. I watched from our private porch, with hot coffee in hand,... more

Do not stay here.......This place was extremely run down, smelly and very dirty. The springs were coming out of the beds and the sheets were dirty and the towels were very thin. It was so bad that AAA even refunded our money and it is no longer in the AAA book. Beware!!!! more

As so many others discovered, this place is definitely not worth the $177 a night that we had to pay. The cancellation policy is ridiculous in this day and age. We would have had to forfeit over $200 if we decided to leave. When we arrived, there was no one in the front office, which was wide open and unlocked... more

My wife had never been to Maine before. Arrived here just after end of busy season, our first evening. Got a room in wing right over the edge of the bay, with good discount (hotel magazine coupon) off the $200 room. Sunset was beautiful. Restaurant closed early, but we arrived just in time for a late evening supper ( Only... more

We reserved a room there because their ad in AAA said "oceanview". Sorry folks, no ocean!!! Just a small bay. When we asked about the ad we were told "Well, it's ocean water!!" The rooms were very old and run down and the bed was not comfortable. The restaurant closed early and could not even get morning coffee. Our traveling... more

Had discount coupon from travel magazine. Arrived at hotel early (1:30 pm) on Monday and was told coupon was not accepted because they were "sold out" but entire hotel was empty. Looked at a couple rooms at double cost of coupon and they were run down, old and mildewy. We stayed at a B&B and drove past Smuggler's Cove around... more
