Without completely tearing the innkeeper a new one, I would not recommend holding an event here at all. We hoped to support local business and go with their smaller, quaint B & B, but it disappointed us so many ways. Having worked in the business for so many years seeing them struggle through our wedding reception was taken as a... more

Staying in B&Bs is usually a highlight of visiting the USA, however, this place was unfortunately a lowlight! A great location for the property but sadly let down by tatty room and decor, slow and inattentive service. How this place keeps going, in a country that quite rightly demands high standards of hospitality, is a mystery to me. more

We were going to a parents' weekend at UMaine Farmington and wanted to see more of Maine than Farmington. The L'Auberge's proximity to Sunday River also interested us. Despite not having the antique/Victorian look of the other inns in Bethel, we found a warm welcome and delightful decor, along with a superb breakfast the next morning. Max was also a... more

We really enjoyed our stay at L'Auberge. The proprietors were extremely friendly but didn't push themselves on us. We found their interractions just right. The king bed room was large and looked out on the foliage of an adjacent forest - very quiet. When we learned the owners had a couple of dogs, we coaxed them into letting the dogs... more

We should have known this was not a place to stay when the owner stooped to pick-up dog poop in the hallway while showing us to our room. The breakfast was very good but was not good enough to offset the dogbite I received by the owner's dog. The dog seemed to go crazy anytime a guest left the hotel.... more

In October of 2006 we stayed overnight at the best bed and breakfast by far!! It sits back off the main street of the quaint New England town of Bethel,, Maine. It is old and well furnished, and the owners are genuinely warm and friendly with no pretences. Their restaurant is the perfect place to spend a special occasion. The... more

I don't understand the reviews thus far for this inn. We stayed here two weekends ago and we found the inn to be a terrific place to stay. the inn keepers were friendly and they were extremely accomodating. We had an issue with our dog on the way up (he is old and his legs were bothering him), and we... more

Where to start...... We arrived on a Friday night with our puppy. My fiance and I went in without the dog, just to be sure we were good to go. We checked in, brought our stuff in, and were shown our room. We were invited back down for a coctail. We brought the puppy down with us. Well, they have... more

My husband and I booked a one night stay. It was one night too many. Our dog was lucky that she slept in her clean kennel in the car. The add in the internet says that the rooms are filled with antiques and king sized beds. Wrong!. The mattress was so cheap and thin that we could feel the springs... more

Room old - tiles falling off - mould in bathroom - cobwebs in corners - no one else there - food WAY overpriced! I should have checked here first and saved myself heartache. This trip was a gift for my husband and this was the last stop. What a horrible way to end our trip! It ruined everything. All I... more
