This place was a throw back to the 50s and 60s. This is a 'motor inn' with lots of cottages around the grounds. (There is a real motel but didn't stay there). We arrived without a reservation and found this thru Travel Advisor and Hotels.com. The ladies running the desk were the sweetest ladies. Probably in their late 60s (or... More

We were visiting family south of Belfast and were looking for a place that was quiet with a view. Bingo! Colonial Gables has both the traditional motel on the highway, but as you head down the hill towards the ocean there are about a dozen cabins or so. We were in a cabin maybe 100' from the ocean. Great view.... More

We rented a room not one of the cottages. Our room was one of those 50's motels turned quaint and sweet. We arrived after dark and dropped our bags then quickly purchased the ingredients for s'mores from the ladies in reception. What a sweet thought to have them available! Our view in the morning was such a surprise, the water... More

My husband and I were in Maine for a large family reunion that was spread over two days. Knowing that Maine is very busy in the summer we booked ahead and it's a good thing we did since most places had no vacancies. We definitely enjoyed our time at the Colonial Gables. We were in the motel section of the... More

We stopped here as a stepping stone to a trip further north. It's a great location just a few minutes from Belfast. They have a small hotel and a whole bunch of cottages scattered down a gentle slope to the bay. A series of paved roads lead you around through this little cottage village. There's a sandy, rugged type Maine... More

My wife and I stayed here for three days to start a trip in New England. When our trip ended, we wished we could have had more time in Belfast and at the Colonial Gables. It was our first anniversary so I chose to surprise my wife by shipping the cake top to the Colonial Gables, and Mary the lady... More

Our family of 5 just stayed here over the 4th of July holiday, and we loved it. We stayed in cabin # 39. It has a front porch with a view of the bay. It has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms plus a fully functional kitchen. It was clean and comfortable. Can't beat the value.

Went to Belfast in May for a girls weekend and rented a cottage at Colonial Gables. When I arrived, the lovely ladies in the front office offered us a different (recently upgraded) unit. They gave us both sets of keys and let us decide what unit we wanted. We picked the upgraded unit. A bit of character with the sloping... More

Great place to stay whether it's for one night or several. The cottages are well kept and clean with all the amenities needed. Especially enjoyed meeting the office team and working with them for our visit. Would definitely schedule a visit next trip.

Stayed here last summer and had a wonderful time. We were in a studio cottage with a porch out front that had a great view of the bay. Staff was excellent and very helpful to newcomers to the area. Clean comfortable rooms. Looking forward to going back and would recommend this place to anyone.
