This hotel is very outdated and the staff isn't overly friendly. That being said, we were only here for one night as a last resort and it was a fine stay. We had no problems, and it was cleanly. So for a place to lay your head, it was fine.

The location was convenient for me as my partner was admitted and I had no place to stay. Traveling from the hospital through the corridors to the hospital saved me from going outside in the snow. I would not pay the nightly rate that was posted on the door. They give discounts to loved ones in need of a place.... More

I stayed here while my Mom was in the hospital at EMMC both in August and Sept. The rooms seemed dirty. Saw dirt on walls and the carpets looked filthy. They do not look like they have been shampooed in years. There were 2 rooms I stayed in that had a funky odor. Lysol spray did not even help. The... More

Stayed here 1 night while my mother was a patient at EMMC. After a long day at the hospital I make the trek through the hospital corridors over to the Riverside. I was given a key to a room on the 3rd floor. The key would not work and I then had to haul my luggage back downstairs to tell... More

We stayed 4 nights here while my mom was in the hospital directly connected to it. The only reason we stayed for 4 nights was because we need to be close. The rooms are old and haven't been updated in years. Our tub backed up as soon as you ran the shower. The room smelled and the furniture was all... More

had surgery scheduled for 5:30am and there was a blizzard over night....a nurse suggested staying at the riverside hotel for the night to avoid the early morning drive to the hospital in the snow/sleet/freezing rain.....the underground walk way from the hotel to the surgery waiting room took about 5 minutes so we didn't have to face the snow problems...and allowed... My father was transported to the ICU at EMMC from Northern Maine, unexpectedly. Needless to say, when going through a stressful time you can't always take time to shop around for a hotel. We were pleasantly surprised by the Riverside Inn. We stayed in a suite on the 4th floor with a fridge and sitting area (helping for gathering with... More

THe friendliest staff on Earth, very nice room (501) & they even managed to keep us one day more when our plane was cancelled...and at 2 a.m.! I'll be back as often as I can! Full of charm place with an interesting underpass to the EMMC (BTW, great cafeteria!)

Wife was having surgery at EMEC, so decided to give the Riverside Inn a try, due to it's close proximity to the hospital. Place was clean and comfortable. Staff was excellent and very helpful. For what you pay, it's a very comfortable place to stay, especially if you want to be close to the hospital. My daughter thought the connector... More

Repeat visit: once a year. Breakfast is back and - while not very ambitious - is fresh and non-fattening. Not a chain hotel with all the charm of a smallish place. Ask a room facing the Penobscot river, the view is gorgeous. Very nice personnel.
