had surgery scheduled for 5:30am and there was a blizzard over night....a nurse suggested staying at the riverside hotel for the night to avoid the early morning drive to the hospital in the snow/sleet/freezing rain.....the underground walk way from the hotel to the surgery waiting room took about 5 minutes so we didn't have to face the snow problems...and allowed... My father was transported to the ICU at EMMC from Northern Maine, unexpectedly. Needless to say, when going through a stressful time you can't always take time to shop around for a hotel. We were pleasantly surprised by the Riverside Inn. We stayed in a suite on the 4th floor with a fridge and sitting area (helping for gathering with... More

THe friendliest staff on Earth, very nice room (501) & they even managed to keep us one day more when our plane was cancelled...and at 2 a.m.! I'll be back as often as I can! Full of charm place with an interesting underpass to the EMMC (BTW, great cafeteria!)

Wife was having surgery at EMEC, so decided to give the Riverside Inn a try, due to it's close proximity to the hospital. Place was clean and comfortable. Staff was excellent and very helpful. For what you pay, it's a very comfortable place to stay, especially if you want to be close to the hospital. My daughter thought the connector... More

Repeat visit: once a year. Breakfast is back and - while not very ambitious - is fresh and non-fattening. Not a chain hotel with all the charm of a smallish place. Ask a room facing the Penobscot river, the view is gorgeous. Very nice personnel.

This was an ideal location for us. We had a relative in the EMMC and it was very convenient for us to walk back and forth to the ICU. The room had 2 comfortable double beds and was clean. The rate was reasonable and included a $5 voucher for breakfast at the hospital's cafeteria. The people at the desk were... More

It's a hotel. We could not get a room in Bangor except at this hotel. When we first arrived, the appearence was a turn-off from the outside entrance and lobby itself. However, our room was clean, had minimal ammenities, standard TV, fridge, coffee maker, etc. It grew on us quickly to be a quality motel, just not pretty. The staff... More

Terrible! This is an old nurses residence building for the Eastern Maine Medical Center. It appears to be used as economy housing for families with loved ones in the hospital for extended periods. It is very old, built in xxxx. It smells musty, and cigarette smoking is allowed near the lobby. The lobby itself is small and dated. The room... More

I've been coming to this hotel since 2003 and am always pleasantly impressed by the niceness of the staff. Rooms are not standard chain fare but immaculately clean; the only thing I miss is a DVD player - but I can live without for 2 weeks.... A plus is the laundry room at the 1st floor.

...and that is a hotel-like facility for chronic-care patients and their families at Eastern Maine Medical Center. Not an actual hotel, but a hotel-like facility, as I discovered when I got what I thought was a GREAT deal on a "king-size suite with whirlpool bath" for just $75. I got even more excited when they gave me the key to... More
