My husband and I love to sit by the ocean and this little cabin was just what the Dr ordered. The cabin was really close to the water and it was very private. The cabin was perfectly equipped for what we needed...nothing fancy but clean and cozy and by the water. We were a short walk from a path that... More

As so many others have said, this is the real Maine. Not fancy, no wi fi (except in restaurant) and poor cell reception but what a great reason to just sit back, play some cards, enjoy a drink on your front porch while you watch the ocean. It is mesmerizing, relaxing, and the best way to enjoy the coast of... More

We stumbled upon this Inn 14 years ago and always wanted to return. It was as quaint and charming as we remembered. We once again chose to stay in a shared building. A wee bit cool at the beginning of fall; they were very accommodating and allowed us to switch to a room upstairs that was warmer. Our rooms had... More

We had our mini-honeymoon here, returning after a wonderful stay last year. Rocky shore and evergreen rugged sea views, very tasty breakfast - lobster quiche, waffles, the works. Enjoyed the older rustic cabin to the shiny, new shared-baths house, but both had their charm! Would definitely stay again and grateful to the friends who showed me their little secret!

We found The Driftwood 37 years ago & it is a "must stay" every trip to Maine. If you're looking for plush pampering, this is not for you. However, if you want peaceful, relaxing beauty, it doesn't get any better than The Driftwood. The atmosphere (to me) is quaint, rustic, "the real Maine", rooms are knotty-pine walled, clean, & cozy.... More

The Driftwood Inn has the highest view per dollar of any place we have stayed in the entire world. That's all we need to say. Yes it is old, not fancy and the rooms are small. The staff is quite nice and helpful, but don't expect the Four Seasons treatment. Just go and sit on your porch and watch the... More

This is a quintessential, One-Morning-in-Maine experience on an island of fishermen and non-mega-mansion summer homes where people go to church fish dinners, dances in old halls, hike, clam and I imagine play canasta. There is little reception for your cell phone or computer; no television; no movie theaters but the inn is great and hangs over the ocean. I was... More

Ever since discovering The Driftwood Inn, we go back every chance we get. In a word, the place is simply ‘magical’. Owned and operated by a member of the same family that built it over a century ago, The Driftwood preserves something of another time that has mostly disappeared. Sitting on top Thunder Hole where the locals come to see... More

The Driftwood looked great online. It is a beautiful location however there needs to be more effort from staff to make this place a gem. There were no hairdryers in the shared shower bathrooms, no coffee available until the dining room opened at 8am, and the pool (while saltwater) seemed to need a pump or something to refresh the water.... The rustic feel of this Inn is perfect for the spectacular location. Our room had a king sized bed with our own sink and toilet, but showers are in a shared bathroom. The views from this lodge and from walking around the 'neighborhood' are just amazing. Breakfast was great as well.
