After calling most of the B&Bs in the area and being rudely turned down and told to turn around (then hung up on), we found this place at a great price! Ms. Mary was so sweet and accomodating even with a broken foot and the grounds wete absolutely breathtaking. There were fresh cut flowers in each room and the plantation... More

This home has been preserved rather than restored. And it has been there long enough to host Andrew Jackson after the Battle of New Orleans. It lacks the granduer of the river plantations but instead offers comfortable beds (high four posters), friendly pets, full southern breakfast, fresh flowers, spacious grounds and a very quiet night.

Mattie's House porch is great but the inside is very 70s & smells odd. The fresh flower vases were a sweet touch though. Breakfast was the standard eggs/bacon/grits/biscuit. My biggest issue with this plantation (& we've stayed at many) was all the JUNK. EVERYWHERE. The owners need to either hall out all the broken refrigerators, dilapidated cars, etc or store... More

My wife and I stayed here for a night out of town for our anniversary and we had a great time. The furry trio of "greeters" met us at the door and our room was a great mix of new and old. Breakfast was delicious and we really enjoyed both the tour and a relaxing walk of the property. For... More

My husband and I stayed at the Cottage Plantation for three nights. Loved the old antiques, the wonderful grounds, puppy "Tara" and kitty "Sunshine." Mary was a wonderful host, pleasant to visit with, prepared a lovely breakfast every day in the fantastic dininng room....(her grits where the best!) I really enjoyed her informative tour. Mary always went out of her... More

There is charm but they need to spend on keeping the rooms cleaner. This includes the a/c / heater blowing dust. I was chocking for several days on this. There is a gigantic water stain on the fabric decoration over the bed. Some of the outbuildings are run down and with a bit more tiding up it could just be... More

The road leading to this place is a narrow graveled road and runs over a small wooden bridge with a dry creek bed below. I don't know what would have happened if we had met another automobile on the road as there didn't seem to be room for 2 vehicles to pass. The tour was $7 per person and wasn't... More

We really enjoyed our stay at the Cottage plantation, a lovely peaceful secluded small plantation house down a long driveway which took you over an old wooden bridge. It's less than a mile from the highway though so very easy to get to. We were the only people staying that night, our room was nice and we sat out on... More

The road was horrible going to the cottage. The tour was over priced for what you get to see. The antiques were not being well preserved because they did not keep them in a climate controled enviroment. Which is really sad. They had modern things mixed with antiques. It was like someone was showing us there old house. The tour... More

I was in 7th grade and I had chosen to do my Social Studies fair project on the Cottage Plantation. My mom decided to take me there to be able to experience it for myself. I really enjoyed being able to learn about the history of the plantation on the tour! I had told the tour guide about my project... More
