Really you feel further comment is superfluous, reading all the positive reviews already for Number 56 but we must say something! We've travelled a fair bit over quite a few years and always prefer staying in small places, B&B's or Inns if possible. I suppose we can't categorically say that this is the best place that we've stayed in but... More

My wife and I stayed with David and Julie only for one night, which wasn't enough. Next time we'll stay longer. Right from the first moment we arrived they made us very welcome, nothing was a problem. The room and facilities of their home that they shared with us were very comfortable and clean. We decided to have supper with... More

No 56 is a wonderful Bed and Breakfast situated in the heart of the Somme. David and Julie are very warm, welcoming hosts and they were always on hand to answer our questions about the battlefields. David also took us on a "Walk with me" personalised tour of the Somme which we can highly recommend. It was first rate and... More

Thank you to David and Julie for a brilliant three nights stay at Number 56, we had such a fantastic time. Julie and David could not be more welcoming and attentive, excellent breakfasts each morning, comfortable beds, nothing too much trouble and both of them are very knowledgeable regarding anything to do with WW1 history. Without a doubt I would... More

Excellent cuisine and generous portions. I will definitely be back soon. Thankyou to both of you for such a... More

This is just the best place to stay in Albert. David and Julie are great hosts. They gave a very warm welcome and continued to amaze us with their generosity and helpfulness. We had no idea where to eat and we ended up dining with the rest of the guests at their B and B and shared all sorts of... More

I was lucky enough to find Number 56 through a mutual friend as a base from which to work on a project in the area and I have stayed there five times in the last year. During this time, I have had the opportunity to observe the thoughtful and sensitive way Julie and David can nurture each visitor's experience of... More

We spent two nights with Julie and David and had a great time. A Very friendly greeting awaited us when we arrived. Spent some time having a few drinks with them before David (Manuel) took our bags up to our rooms, ours was the Lawrence room overlooking oviliers military cemetery in the distance. Nothing was too much trouble your comfort... More
