David and Julie have created a superior B&B that is far more than simply a place to stay while touring the Somme. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, the breakfasts are hearty and the dinners are superb. I would recommend Number 56 even if you don't want to visit the battlefields; the quality of service/atmosphere alone justifies a visit.... More

Staying with Julie and David at Number 56 was like staying with old friends as they were so welcoming and friendly. Every time we returned we were welcomed back with tea and cakes or a glass of wine or a beer. The breakfast was lovely and the evening meal was amazing value. The location was excellent for visiting the Somme... More

Julie and David have created a genuine atmosphere of warmth and comfort. It is as if you were staying with your favourite sibling, you are relaxed and spoiled and they seem to anticipate your needs. The optional eveving meal is outstanding in its preparation, presentation, aroma and taste! Coupled with brilliant conversation around the table, it is a thoroughly enjoyable... More

David and Julie really showed us a different side of the B & B business. Warmth passion, service in a style that made us feel very much a part of their circle of friends. Davidis extremely knowledgeable about the area and as a guide is fantastic. Julie is bubbly, professional and a great "cordon bleu" cook.

Just returned from The Somme and a 3-night stay at No. 56 with David & Julie. What a fantastic experience - right on the German front line in July 1916 and with easy access to most of the key battle areas, this is by far the best-located battlefield B&B I have stayed in. Rooms are spotless, food is first class... More

Having read other reviews on TripAdvisor, we chose Number 56 and it exceeded the expectations of all 6 in our group. The location of this B&B was very close to all of the major Somme Battlefields sites. In our search for a relative buried in Aunchonevillers it was an ideal location. Both David & Julie were the most welcoming hosts... More

From the moment we arrived to the time we left, Julie and David made us feel very welcome, nothing was too much trouble for them, a real home from home. Our en-suite room was very clean and quiet, breakfast was excellent and we had the pleasure of enjoying two superb evening meals in great company. If you are looking for... More
