I was looking forward to two nights at the Woodland Plantation and its famous Spirit House dining. When we arrived we were told that there was a large birthday party in the Spirit House so we would be served in the main house dining room, the same building as our rooms were in. The resulting problems included no bar service,... More

Branch out from the Big Easy and explore a bit. Woodland Plantation is less than an hour's drive and is worth every minute. The property is unique and very nicely restored, offering a bit of history AND clean and comfortable accommodations. The staff was warm and welcoming. Be sure to book at least one dinner. Our meal was five stars.... More

Just spent 3 days at woodland plantation on a tuna and red fishing trip. Foster, the owner, was very hospitable, the accommodations are certainly the nicest within a short drive of Venice. Mike the chef and the staff put a fabulous dinner on every night. 4 or 5 star eating!! Highly recommend.

Could not have had a better trip - fishing was outstanding, food was phenomenal and the service first class. Took my 2 boys ( ages 10 and 12 ) and they had a blast - brought home 300 trout fillets in 2 days of fishing. Look forward to coming back

The Woodland is an incredible place to stay! Foster and his staff go out of their way to make the guests feel special. The food prepared by the chef and staff is consistently exceptional. We stay here every year for fishing trips and the dining and service is always just perfec!! Treat yourself to a visit to Woodland Plantation when... More

My wife and I think of Woodland as our second home. We live in Baton Rouge, two hours north, and try to go at least once a month. The food and accommodations are as good as you will find in Louisiana and for that matter the world . We have our own boat, but using one of the dozen or... More

Woodland Plantation is situated forty-five minutes south of New Orleans and thirty five minutes north of Venice, La., the southern most point of the state. The home which was built in 1834 by a sugar cane planter has numerous bedrooms, a large parlor and an even larger dinning room. There are verandas on both the front and the back sides... More

Another niece is getting married and chose Woodland for the ceremony and reception. As a bonus, they had the rehearsal dinner there as well. The food was better than I remember, They set of a small buffet. The green beans were crisp and full of flavor. The Mahi Mahi was cooked to perfection in lemon butter. The beef was sliced... More

I had a weekend family birthday celebration at Woodlands with 12 guests and just can't say enough good things about Foster and his entire staff. Everyone was so friendly and did everything possible to make guests feel at home. The food is beyond belief and I can assure you there is no meal available in New Orleans that good for... More

We were stunned our first year at Woodland Plantation. The amount and quality of food is amazing! The dining room itself is in a renovated old church. The bar is up front and has just about anything you could ask for. You really have to pace your eating because they have huge amounts to eat at every meal. If you... More
