We arrived in late afternoon and were planning to stay four nights. We had been led here by a NY Times review of Acadiana. The property is not at all what we were led to expect. First, it is nowhere near the center of town. In fact, it is in a very poor section of town hard by the very... More

I decided to book at this B & B despite some mixed reviews. Although the owner was happy to take our reservation for a Xmas day arrival, he seemed angry when we appeared, telling me that he doesn't usually take bookings at Xmas. He brought us to the carriage house. When I asked about rooms in the main house, he told... More

Ordinarily we do not take guests Christmas day! Told the person that when first asked for the reservation. However, she told me that she understood that it was Christmas but would we make an exception. I told her the rooms only, no breakfast the next morning as we had family in. She arrived, the first people were her son and... More

A graceful old plantation home with galleries overlooking the grounds and surrounding neighborhoods. We stayed in a mini-suite with charming antiques, upstairs in the main house. The Voorhies -- owners and genial hosts -- served splendid Southern breakfasts and tales of the history, flora and fauna of the area. A very good choice for travelers who enjoy an authentic experience.

It's an old plantation house, very beautiful, full of lovely antique furnishings. We stayed at the back and had our own front door, pristinely clean and welcoming. The bed was extremely comfortable and the owners are fantastic people. We were travelling through the area on a trip from Scotland and we absolutely loved it. The whole place had an amazing... More

Please do not be mislead by any of the other reviews that might have been a bit negative! They must be used to fancy-smancy frilly B & B's, but this 1 is truly unique in a good way! This was our 1st time to stay here, & we truly loved it! It was a plantation @ one time, but now... More

Its an old house , it is plantation house, whose environs have been nibbled away by time, and the economic needs of previous owners. its an old house full of wonderful antiques, its an old house and in this in climate a nightmare to keep maintained, but to be super spruce would lose its charm. Its a charming dog filled... More

One night at Bois des Chenes, and probably enough. Although this place could be described as interesting and 'quirky', at the end of a 200 mile drive, you want some comfort. We were shown to our room by our host, and it was right at the top of the house. We found out afterwards, that they didn't use this room... More

They market this place as a plantation house. But if you go thinking that you'll be dissapointed. The place is a little run down and go do with a good spruce up. We stayed in the outhouse rather than the main house, large room with basic facilities. If you're looking for something swanky, this place isn't for you. However the... More

We arrived a little early, but we were warmly welcomed. The Coerte recommended a place to eat dinner, and it was very good. The room was clean. It had a little musty smell, but that was from being closed up and older. It reminded me of my grandmother's house. The hospitality was gracious, the breakfast delicious, the conversavtion interesting, and... More

This was our first visit to Louisiana (January 5-17). After booking our flight to New Orleans, we discovered that the city was hosting the BSC Championships, and would be crazy with football fever, so we decided to get out into Cajun Country. We love to stay in B&B's, but sometimes traveling with our 3 children, it isn't always possible. After... More
