Stunning, fabulous, wonderful, extraordinary...and more. If you are looking for a special weekend or other getaway, take advantage of this unique stay. It's like being a guest on the pages of Architectural Digest. Hostess Madeleine also rates five stars!! Thanks for everything, ma'am!! And do not miss a two-hour tour of Lake Martin. We have seen swamps and lakes in... More

We just loved maison Madeleine ! So relaxing and right on the bayou, and Madeleine is just fabulous ! The best southern breakfast we had :-) . And Madeleine recommended the Cajun swamp tour which was also amazing !

We stayed here unfortunately for only 1 night during the Festival International. But were so thankful that we had at least one night. We stayed with another couple and had the entire second floor that even had a tea and cookie nook. The cottage that Madeleine has restored to perfection is beautiful and so close to Lake Martin where we... More

Our family spent three nights at Maison Madeleine - it was the perfect spot for exploring Cajun Country. The charming house, which Madeleine has restored to perfection, is in a stunning location just across from Lake Martin and a short way from the amazing rookery, where we saw thousands of beautiful egrets, roseate spoonbills, cormorants, herons and other birds. The... More

My wife and I first visited last year and enjoyed ourself so much we decided to back again this year (with my mother joining as well). We're from Minnesota, and after a long, tough winter this was definitely a welcome taste of spring. I simply cannot say enough about how charming Maison Madeleine is. And the breakfasts are amazing. We... More

We stayed four nights here in December with our two kids. Loved the easy access to the swamp (across the street), kayaking on the Bayou Teche, hikes along Lake Martin and visits to Longfellow Evangeline State Park and Avery Island. In between all the activity, so relaxing to come back to the beautiful surroundings of Maison Madeleine with the incredible... More

I stayed here with a friend this past weekend (10-12-2013 to 10-13-2013). It is such a wonderful place. I can't wait to go back again!! We arrived Saturday afternoon and watched the LSU game in the bar with Madeleine and Walt. Went out to eat at The French Press in Lafayette just a short drive away, and came back to... More

Imagine it's 1850, and you are weary travelers. Your stagecoach pulls in for the night at a beautiful "Creole cottage" off a country road in swamp country. You are greeted by the proprietor and shown to your lovely "suite" up a set of stairs. It is blissfully cool inside. You have all the "mod cons" including possibly the world's greatest... More

It's hard not to be taken in with this room right out of a magazine. This was not our favorite place to stay however. EVERYTHING is picture perfect to be sure, but there is so much decorating going on that I had a hard time finding a spot to put my toothbrush. Lovely location in the middle of nowhere. Required... I'd always wanted to visit the Louisiana bayou, and Maison Madeleine was the perfect place to stay. We arrived in the early evening to a soundtrack of bird calls and frogs singing. The house is just a block from the water, and surrounded by verdant gardens. Madeleine is a charming and considerate host and provided everything we needed. Her breakfasts... More
