This was our first bed and breakfast experience, and it was a lovely place full of history! Circumstances had us there during the winter, but we can't wait to plan another visit this spring when everything is in bloom. It was clean, and the breakfast was wonderful. The staff was a delight.

Had a wonderful dinner with family at the Wendover Bed and Breakfast Inn Saturday evening. The food (chicken and dumplings) was amazing and the tour, lead by our host, Michael Claussen, was inspiring! He showed us through the Big House and other buildings and sites. The whole experience was enjoyed by all of the family - my brother and his... More

Thank you for the wonderful review of our historic bed and breakfast Inn. Wendover is a great place for families to gather and share a meal. And now that the word is out on one of Kentucky's best kept secrets, I know many more families will come and experience the rich history of the Frontier Nursing Service at Mrs. Breckinridge's... The entire establishment is very well kept, with the design highlighting both the past and the future of the place. I really appreciated the signs and displays that showed the history of the establishment and Mary Breckenridge. It gives the overall ambience of a rich history. I loved how some of the books and canes that she used when she... More

I felt like I was visiting an old house of someone I know when I got here. This is a place full of historical stories. It is very cozy and the price is affordable too. The surroundings are beautiful and so peaceful.

I recently traveled with a group to Wendover and had the opportunity to stay in the newly renovated Barn Apartment. The space was very generous with a separate living/dining area, full kitchen, bath (with tub) and bedroom. The temperatures ranged from chilly to hot outside but indoors the temperature was maintained at a comfortable level. The apartment had a private... More

Wendover Bed and Breakfast was such a delight! The guided tour was fantastic and educational. The history of Mary Breckinridge and the Frontier Nursing Service is admirable and very interesting! The food was delicious Southern cuisine and with a heads up they happily accommodated my small children with chicken and dumplings. The remoteness of the location adds to its charm.... More

Wendover provided us the perfect balance of rustic beauty and formal elegance. A lover of history, I was swept along through time, enjoying hearty Kentucky fare on Wendover's traditional Blue Willow China, lounging on Breckenridge's original furniture, and reading her collection of antique books. From a cushioned window seat, I soaked in the clear view of the rock gardens sloping... More

I have lived in Hyden all my life and had never been to the Big House. This past October my book club read a book about Mary Breckinridge, then decided to have lunch and a tour of the big house. I was so impressed! The building is beautiful and full of so much history. Michael Claussen is the best tour... More

Wendover is a magical place of healing and redemption for so many of us, who have visited or worked there. Mary Breckinridge's vision continues to this day, and Michael Claussen, our charming guide and the Development Coordinator for Frontier Nursing University, was the cherry on top of our sundae! Very knowledgeable in all things Wendover, Leslie and Harlan Counties, Mr.... More
