Disappointed at not being able to get into the room until 6.00pm. Room very small. Very clean - staff very friendly Lovely breakfast. Quiet location. Lovely old Church across the road that serves lunches, coffee and tea. Near Fakenham, small market town

We stayed in this place and were not disappointed. My wife was on a family history outing and this was very central to the area she was interested in. The food and service were outstanding and I am very glad I made the choice as I was wanting to stay in a boring mainstream hotel. Great Ryburgh was also a... More

The staff were wonderful, very helpful and incredibly friendly. The hallway to the rooms has it's own separate entrance from the garden, which is handy. Inside it is very characterful ( very uneven floors, low ceilings, beams etc.) The rooms are very small but have what you need. Our room (room 1) had the bed pulled away from the wall... More

My husband is into the second week of a very restricted diet and was wondering how he would manage eating out in restaurants while we were on holiday. He need not have worried here. Laura the landlady was extremely helpful and my husband was served a correct plate of food which he really enjoyed. Good atmosphere in this pub, Laura... More

I stayed here in a rather unusual sense as I was travelling alone, walking on pilgrimage to Walsingham, the owner and hostess seemed a bit surprised by this but was very accommodating. The building is a beautiful old rambling thing and the food was excellent.

We stayed there for a couple of nights while on a break, it's a very good location for traveling around North Norfolk, they couldn't do enough for you, the room was very nice and the food was extremely good, will definitely be going back in the future.

I've already written one review for this place which they said had been published but it hasn't so I'm writing it again as I can't recommend this place enough!! The food was wonderful, completely above our expectations!! So good in fact that as we were leaving we booked to go again in a fortnight. The owners are a lovely couple... More

Stayed at the Blue Boar for 3 nights. Very friendly welcome from Laura. Room was spotless and extremely comfortable. Food, prepared by James, was excellent, very generous portions, a good selection and reasonably priced. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff and would definitely stay here again and have no hesitation in highly recommending the Blue Boar.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Blue Boar Inn is a coaching inn dating from 1685. Bought in 2008 by us, James and Melinda, this listed building has been lovingly restored. The bar has a beamed ceiling and an inglenook fireplace which has a roaring fire on colder days. In the summer you can relax in the beer garden and hopefully enjoy the sunshine! The garden is fully enclosed and has swings & toys for the children. The restaurant can seat up to 50 diners and can be booked for parties and functions. Our food is locally sourced as much as possible, with our pork produced next door at "Perfick Pork", beef from Binham, crabs and mussels (when in season) from Brancaster to mention but a few! James is the chef and has worked at many well know restaurants in Norfolk as well as working in Australia, New Zealand and Bermuda. We have five en-suite bedrooms, and these have been tastefully and comfortably decorated, each with tea / coffee making facilities, free wifi, hairdryer and colour TV. Our aim is to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible, so if there is anything we may have overlooked, please do not hesitate to ask, we will do our very best to accommodate you. ... more   less
