We visited as a family of 8. The starter was average, but everything else about the meal was superb. Really good value for money and a massive selection on the menu. The ambiance in the venue was great - a roaring coal fire, good selection of ales and the staff were possibly the most friendly of any venue I've eaten... More

Clean, well appointed rooms above the Blue Boar Inn. This is a restaurant /pub, rather than a pub which does do food. Having said that, they do, I think three real ales, plus all the usual drinks. The location is quiet, and being mainly a restaurant, doesn't have late drinkers or loud music. However there was below our window, some... More

Had dinner here with friends and the food was, I have to say, pretty average. The bar/restaurant, however, is lovely with a nice ambience about it and the staff were really helpful, polite and friendly.........a bit disappointed overall which was a real shame.

We booked here last minute and were not disappointed. Laura the landlady made us very welcome and couldn't do enough for us. The room was nice and cosy with plenty of tea ,coffee, water and biscuits. We were very comfortable here and would recommend it to anyone. We also had the pleasure of dining here on the evening and had... More

Stayed here recently on a Saturday night while attending a wedding. Booked three rooms many months ago. I had explained the situation to Laura about needing access to the rooms early so we could get changed etc and she delivered on her promise. Although the place is closed during the day, she made arrangements so we could access keys by... More

We stayed for three nights whilst working locally, having booked online months ago. The positives are the warmth of the welcome from the slightly eccentric landlady and the very good food - one of the best and certainly largest fillet steaks ever - beers were OK, not an extensive selection, but something for everyone I would say. The rooms are... More

We were staying a couple of miles from here and there aren't too many restaurants around. We saw the sign for this restaurant and thought we'd give it a try. So glad we did, the food was fab with a great choice and all fresh ingredients. A nice relaxed setting and furnished beautifully. The staff were welcoming, polite and friendly... More

Stayed over on a Saturday night after attending a wedding. Room was clean, a little small but had every thing you would need. Good tea and coffee supplies and two bottles of water at no extra charge. Full English breakfast was lovely, we had unlimited tea, coffee and toast. The lady who runs it is lovely, very polite and very... More

It was a last minute booking for the same night and they couldn't have been more helpful. As soon as I got there the landlady couldn't do enough for me. Unfortunately on the Tuesday the restaurant was closed but I heard from others that the food was excellent. The breakfast was good and the rooms are nice. Very peaceful surroundings... More
