This was a great place to stay. The property was beautiful, and the rooms were very reasonably priced. Everything was clean, private and inviting. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast, and wonderful hospitality. We will definitely return!

As always, Joe and Shirley Thomas are the consummate hosts, and provided everything we needed. The house itself is an architectural marvel, and with great attention to detail, the Thomases have brought it into the 21st century while maintaining its charm and original style. Food was wonderful, grounds well-kept and beautiful to enjoy, birds and wildlife abound--truly a paradise just... More

This B&B is adorable, charming with a historical elegance. The residence was very clean, and sheets smelled of Tide. It felt like staying at home, with an added feeling of being pampered. We stayed in the West Veranda Bedroom, which had two queen beds, a pair of chairs, a bathroom, and access to a balcony outside. The hostess was kind... More

Very inviting accommodations. Private, but not intrusive. Elegant vintage architecture with very friendly hosts, we would love to return in the spring and/or summer to enjoy the outdoor wooded surroundings.

Staying at the Lake House at Ruby Lodge is just a lovely experience. We had the master suite and it was most comfortable, as well as beautiful. Not only that, it was super convenient for all the events of MHS Class of 64. Shirley and Joe are always so welcoming and especially this weekend with all our classmates. It is... More

After spending long days visiting with my dad in the "Eddie Ballard" Western Kentucky Veterans Center, it was so relaxing and peaceful to come back to Ruby Lodge. Shirley fixed the yummiest breakfast and I enjoyed just sitting and chit chatting about the history of the lodge and Madisonville. I definitely will be back and recommended that my family stay... We get together every summer with a group of old friends and this place is perfect. We can use the kitchen if we feel like cooking or go out to restaurant. Large common areas make it nice to get together and large grounds if we want to play an outdoor game. Shirley is a wonderful host and after going there... More

Our stay was close to perfect. The great weather helped but the B&B itself, Shirley, the 10 acre lake, and lots of land for the kids to run around on made for an exceptional experience. We'll definitely be back!

a stopover in Madisonville, Kentucky at the Lake House, next to Ruby Lodge. I don't know how Shirley and her family do it, but we felt at home the minute we stepped inside the house. One of our daughters who stayed with us does not like dead animals on the walls, but she said, "i don't care; if I am... More

I think I was the only person n the building that weekend. It was nicely furnished and in great condition. Nice place. Only problem was coffee area - it needed care. Breakfast was about 1/2 mile away at Ruby Lodge. Food was good and owner was pleasant.
