I would much rather stay in a place with history and in a downtown area than a shiny new corporate hotel near some business park. If you can accept the tradeoff of lesser space and things not being ultra modern, then you will enjoy this place. The place is located conveniently downtown, across unfortunately from a closed office building but... more

My husband and I had a wonderful Saturday night stay at The Seelbach this past weekend. We had come with a group of ~30 to spend a day at Churchill Downs. Although the hotel was originally more of an afterthought on the weekend, we have returned with glowing memories. I have a love for grand, historic buildings, and this hotel... more

I arrived by taxi and a bellman quickly took my luggage (without asking) and disappeared while I was still paying my cab fare. I walked through the lobby door and was then greeted by my name, which could have only been obtained by reading my handwritten luggage tag. Maybe some would be impressed by this, but I found it creepy.... more

This hotel was built in 1905 and looks like it was built in 1905. The rooms are subpar. For the price of this hotel, you could stay at many other luxury hotels in the area and get a much better night's sleep. When we arrived in the dead of summer, the hotel felt damp and warm. The lobby kind of... more

We stayed two nights for a family wedding and assumed we were going to get something special. The reality was slightly disappointing. Yes, the hotel does have an interesting history and we enjoyed our guided tour. However, it is expensive and we did not feel we had real value for money. I can't really criticise our room, except to say... more

I think it is important to preface my review by saying that most of the the people who were staying at the hotel, and therefore most who comment on here are not experienced travelers and are google-eyed by anything above a Hampton Inn, so beware if you are well-traveled. In summary, I would not stay here again because I have... more

First the good... When I checked in around 8:30 PM on a Monday evening for a conference, the front desk clerk (who was very nice) said I was getting a recently renovated room. I took the elevator up to the 8th floor, labelled the Hilton HHonors floor, and found that I had a nice large corner room with a high... more

The Seelback was a great hotel with a lot of character. You are able to tell instantly that the hotel is very old, but there are ongoing improvements and there are completed improvements, which made the rooms very modern and comfortable. Upon check in we were upgraded to a king size bed and provided two tickets for breakfast (up to... more

THis is a great hotel with all the amenities. It was a well furnished room that has that wam feeling of comfort. I stayed one night during the christmas week, (Christmas Eve and -mas Day. The staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly! Beautiful hotel like they say. There was minor refurbishment work going on in the lobby, however, I hardly... more
