My husband and I loved our stay at the Aleksander House in Louisville, Kentucky! It was our first stop from Springfield, MO to Charleston, SC. We have always preferred B&Bs to hotels, and have found a new favorite in the Aleksander House.Though we had seen pictures on the business website, we didn’t expect the extensive, authentic detail of this carefully... more

i purchased a 2 night stay here through a public tv travel auction. at time of making the reservation, i had some problems - innkeeper was not clear in her responses. she also apprantley called the travel auction not remembering she had offered the gift certificate. i confirmed my reservation last week (although she did not return my phone call)... more

Management response from

I called the travel auction people at the radio station to check and see what the stipulations were for booking more than one gift certificate in one month or on the weekend. I thought I had stipulated no weekends. We donate gift certificates to many different agencies and, if we have too many in one weekend, we would not be...

My husband and I stayed at the Aleksander House during a recent ice storm that left our city of Louisville devastated by downed trees and electrical wires. Over half of the city and surrounding areas had been stricken with power outages -- and we were among those. We were desparate to find someplace to stay that could provide us with... more

2nd time I've stayed at Aleksander House, and once again, Nancy, the innkeeper provided us with a fabulous stay. Food was top notch, in such lovely surroundings. If going anywhere near Louisville, highly recommend you try Aleksander House. John more

Once again the Aleksander House was warm and inviting. As you might be able to tell, I have stayed here before. What I like most, besides the best scrambled eggs ever, is that it's so comfortable and relaxing. The innkeeper, Nancy makes you feel right at home! Being on my own this time, she joined me for (fabulous) coffee and... more

My husband and I travel pretty extensively, and because of this we were looking for something a bit different than your normal, standard hotel. Having never stayed at a B&B, we chose to try it out and our choice was Aleksander House. When we first arrived, the house itself was tucked away among other similar time-period houses. You can tell... more

Nancy Hinchliff welcomed me to her inn with fresh chocolate chip cookes, hot tea, and a selection of cordials. Soft music and lighting, tasteful decor, and a glass of port wine were wonderfully relaxing after my 10 hour drive. I was visiting Louisville on business and had a schedule that changed from day to day. Nancy accommodated, cheerfully serving breakfast... more

We first experienced Aleksander House and its innkeeper, Nancy Hinchliff during Memorial Day weekend in 2007. We were charmed by Nancy, her inn, and the entire "Old Louisville" neighborhood, located in a national preservation area. Nancy is a gourmet cook and our breakfasts were creative and delicious! She recently served on the committee that wrote and tested recipes for "ROOM... more

Anyone who complains about the breakfast and lack of choices hasn't been to many B&B's. Aleksander House was far above average, offering all sorts of amenities, including home-baked treats, packaged goodies, iced beverages and all sorts of cordials for an evening tipple, a terrific library of videos and DVD's, etc etc. Yes, it's in an urban neighborhood, but handily close... more

I have recently returned from a work related multiple city trip. I was please that Louisville was on my agenda as one of my favorite places to stay, if it's not booked, is the Aleksander House. This is my 3rd stay and it was as enjoyable as ever. I have not stayed there in the summer before and was delighted... more
